Depending on where you live, there are many ways to watch Boston Red Sox without cable, including Sling, Vidgo, DirecTV Stream, Fubo TV, or Hulu.

But the big variable there is where you live. Watching live sports in 2023 is a complicated business — the offerings change whether you’re in market or not.

If you live in the Boston Red Sox TV market, most events air on KTBCDT (KTBC-DT). KTBCDT (KTBC-DT) is available on streamers like Sling or Vidgo.

If you live farther away but still want to watch Boston Red Sox, most events air on KTBCDT (KTBC-DT), WOGXDT (WOGX-DT), WTXFDT (WTXF-DT), KDFWDT (KDFW-DT), KRIVDT (KRIV-DT), KCPQDT (KCPQ-DT), KDVRDT (KDVR-DT), WTTGDT (WTTG-DT), KTTVDT (KTTV-DT) and WOFLDT (WOFL-DT). You can get access on Sling, Vidgo, DirecTV Stream, Fubo TV, and Hulu.

Pair your streaming subscription with a VPN like ExpressVPN (or read more about our other top VPN picks) to watch all the games — regardless of blackout region.

If you just want to watch national broadcasts, our team’s pick for most people to watch Boston Red Sox, is Sling. Here’s why:

Region-blocked pick: Watch Boston Red Sox on Vidgo with ExpressVPN

If you are not located in Boston Red Sox's home town or outside of the United States, you could have a hard time watching Boston Red Sox on Vidgo. Why? Sports are among the most difficult events to watch live without cable because of the limits placed on regional sports markets.

In this case, the surest way to watch Boston Red Sox is with a VPN. It’s not very complicated. You simply need to join a server in a region where Boston Red Sox games are available on Vidgo and sign up for a Vidgo account if you don’t already have one. Then you can watch to your heart’s content — wherever you are in the world.

The most premium VPN is ExpressVPN. ExpressVPN isn’t the cheapest VPN on the market, but it is the option that makes watching Boston Red Sox the easiest — with servers in nearly 100 countries. But if you’d like to consider other VPN options, read about our top VPN picks.

Local pick: Watch Boston Red Sox with an antenna

Another way to watch Boston Red Sox if you’re located around Boston Red Sox's home town is with an OTA antenna. This doesn’t work for every event, but if you’re located nearby and local networks carry the event you’re after, an antenna could be the cheapest way to watch Boston Red Sox without cable.

Best of all, an antenna doesn’t require a subscription. Purchase the hardware and you’ll be able to watch local broadcasts as long as the antenna keeps working. Not sure which antenna to buy? Read our OTA antenna guide.

How to bet on Boston Red Sox games

Want to get some action on today’s Boston Red Sox game? Flixed has partnerships with the best legal sportsbooks to give you great offers to bet on the Boston Red Sox at BetMGM, DraftKings, WynnBET, and more. See below for the best sportsbook promos in your state to bet on Boston Red Sox moneyline, point spread, total, props and more.

Boston Red Sox Odds

If you open up your favorite sportsbook app (especially BetMGM) to bet on the Red Sox you’ll see a number of different types of bets you can make. Below you’ll learn about each type of wager so you can make the most information bet on the Red Sox.

Red Sox Spread

The point spread, or simply “spread”, is a type of bet that involves the number of points a team is expected to win (or lose) by. Below is an example of a point spread in a Boston Red Sox game.

  • Red Sox -6.5 (-110)
  • Cubs +6.5 (-110)

In this example the Red Sox is the favorite, meaning they are expected to win the game specifically by 6.5 points. We know half points don’t exist, but in the above example the Red Sox would need to win by 7 or more points for a bet on them to win. If they win by less than 6 points, the Cubs will have covered the spread and a bet on them would win. The numbers after the spread are the odds you would get on that bet, in this case -110. That means that if you bet $11 on the Red Sox and they won by 7, you’d win $10.

Red Sox Moneyline

A moneyline bet is the simplest bet you can make - it is simply a bet on whichever team you think will win the game outright. Because there is no point spread to handicap the teams to account for differences in quality, the odds on either team will vary more drastically based on how big of a competitive mismatch oddsmakers believe the game is. Below is an example of a Red Sox moneyline:

  • Red Sox -275
  • Cubs +220

The +/- indicate the favorite and the underdog, similar to with the point spread. In this case the Red Sox would be considered the favorite to win the game at -275 and the Cubs would be the underdog at +220. The differences in odds are a reflection of how good the Red Sox are compared to the Cubs. In this case, a $27.50 bet on the Red Sox would only win you $10 if they win the game. Conversely, to win the same $10 betting on the underdog, you’d only need to wager roughly $4.50.

Learn more about these types of bets and sports betting terms in our Sports Betting Glossary!

Red Sox Total (Over/Under)

The total, or over/under (o/u), is a type of bet that is based around the total number of points scored in the game by both teams combined. Below is an example of a total bet in a Boston Red Sox game:

  • Red Sox vs Cubs Total: 49
    • Over 49 (-110)
    • Under 49 (-110)

A bettor will either bet over or under on the total provided. If you bet the over, the combined score of both teams would need to be greater than 49 points for that bet to win. Conversely, if the total combined points is less than 49, the under would win. If the total lands on exactly 49 points, that is called a push and you would receive your stake back. Again, the -110 are the odds you get on either side of the total, in this case an $11 bet would win you $10.

Red Sox Prop Bets

Prop, or proposition, bets are types of bets that pertain to a specific player, event, or game statistic. These bets can be over a specific game or the entire season. There are a few different types of prop bets - player props, game props, team props, and novelty props. Below are examples of prop bets in a Boston Red Sox game:

  • Red Sox RB to record over 59.5 rushing yards - Player Prop

This bet is similar to a total in that you can bet the over or the under on the total rushing yards set. In this case, the above wager is that the Running Back for the Red Sox will rush for 60 yards or more. This is a player prop because it pertains to a specific player’s performance.

  • Red Sox vs Cubs to combine for over 4.5 touchdowns - Game Prop

This bet again is similar to a total bet in that you can bet the over or the under on the total number of touchdowns set. In this case, the above wager is that both teams will score a combined 5 touchdowns or more in the game. This is a game prop because it pertains to a combined stat for both teams for the duration of the game.

  • Red Sox to score over 22.5 points - Team Prop

Again, we see our familiar format of the total bet where we are able to wager on the over or under of a specific stat or number. In this case, we are betting that the Red Sox will score 23 or more points in this game, regardless if they win or lose. This is a team prop because it pertains to the performance of only one team and not on the outcome of the game.

  • Color of the Gatorade Bath Blue - Novelty Prop

These bets are most popular during major game and championship events like the Super Bowl. In the bet above, we are wagering that the color of the Gatorade dumped on the winning coach to be blue. These bets typically have very low limits, meaning you can’t bet large amounts on them. Other popular novelty props are the length of the national anthem, who the MVP of the game will thank first, the number of times a certain phrase is mentioned during the broadcast, and more.

Want to jump in and start wagering? BetMGM has the best offers on Red Sox odds and prop bets.
