Because there is no point spread to handicap the teams to account for differences in quality, the odds on either team will vary more drastically based on how big of a competitive mismatch oddsmakers believe the game is. Below is an example of a Hawkeyes moneyline:

Cyclones +220
The +/- indicate the favorite and the underdog, similar to with the point spread. In this case the Hawkeyes would be considered the favorite to win the game at -275 and the Cyclones would be the underdog at +220. The differences in odds are a reflection of how good the Hawkeyes are compared to the Cyclones. In this case, a $27.50 bet on the Hawkeyes would only win you $10 if they win the game. Conversely, to win the same $10 betting on the underdog, you’d only need to wager roughly $4.50.

The total, or over/under (o/u), is a type of bet that is based around the total number of points scored in the game by both teams combined. Below is an example of a total bet in a Iowa game:
