If you watch a lot of content on your phone or tablet, Quibi may be exactly the streaming service you need. While this mobile-centric streaming service doesn’t launch until April 2020, we still know quite a bit what to expect from it. Get all the details from Flixed here.
What Is Quibi?
Quibi, short for “Quick Bites” is an all-new streaming service first brainstormed by American film producer Jeffrey Katzenberg. It’s designed to be a mobile-exclusive streaming service, which focuses on “quick bites” of content that are under 10 minutes in length – and often much shorter.
Quibi has not yet launched, but it’s already attracted a lot of big name talent including actors and actresses like Idris Elba, Anna Kendrick, Kevin Hart, Kaitlen Olson and Will Forte, as well as directors like Steven Spielberg, Antoine Fuqua and Sam Raimi.
In total, Quibi plans to make more than 7,000 bite-sized pieces of content available on its streaming platform within a year of its launch, with all of the content specifically produced and optimized for mobile, on-the-go viewing on smartphones and tablets.
When Will Quibi Be Available?
Quibi will be available starting in April 2020, as of the most recent available information. However, Quibi was originally supposed to launch in late 2019 and was delayed, so it’s possible that this date may slip further in the future.
Where Will Quibi Be Available?
Currently, it appears that Quibi will only be available in the United States, despite partnering with some UK-based studios like BBC Studios and Workerbee to create original content. We’ll update this page when we learn more about Quibi’s international availability closer to its release date.
How Much Does Quibi Cost?
Quibi will cost $4.99/month at launch for an ad-supported subscription. If you don’t want any ads with your Quibi content, you can pay $7.99 month to eliminate them, and get an ad-free experience.
Can I Try Quibi For Free?
Yes. Quibi will launch with a free trial. The company has not yet announced the length of this free trial, but we expect it will be for a week, though it’s possible Quibi may offer a month-long trial.
