Apple's exclusive on-demand streaming service, Apple TV+, launched in late 2019. While the service focuses heavily on Apple product users, you may be able to watch on one of several devices outside Apple's product lineup. Apple's device support outside of Apple products is still small but is likely to grow over the next few years.
What devices work with Apple TV+?
You can install the Apple TV+ app on the following devices and device categories:
- TV streaming media players: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, and Roku
- Smart TVs: Samsung Smart TV, Roku TV, Amazon Fire TV, Google TV, LG Smart TV, Sony, VIZIO, Panasonic, and Hisense
- Mobile devices and tablets: iOS phones, iPads, iPod Touch
- Game consoles: Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox One X | S
- Desktop browsers: Most common Mac and Windows browsers, such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Chrome OS, and Android devices (browser only),
Can I watch Apple TV+ on other devices?
At present, you cannot use any devices other than those listed above, at least not natively. There may be a chance you can run the Apple TV+ website through web browsers, game consoles, on some mobile devices or smart TVs not listed, for example. However, there's no guarantee that that method will work, and Apple does not offer support for any devices not listed above.
Why use Apple TV+?
Apple TV+ offers just one plan and comes with a number of exclusive original TV shows to view. At launch, Apple TV+ came with the following original line-up:
- CODA: Oscar-winning feature film about a deaf child who develops a passion for singing.
- Ted Lasso: Emmy Award-winning comedy about an American football coach hired to coach a British soccer team.
- The Morning Show: A drama starring Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carrell.
- See: A post-apocalyptic series starring Jason Momoa.
- Dickinson: A coming-of-age story about poet Emily Dickinson.
- For All Mankind: An alternative-history tale in which Russia beat the US to the moon.
- Helpsters: An educational show produced by the same company that creates Sesame Street.
- Snoopy in Space: A cartoon limited-series cartoon featuring Snoopy from the Peanuts comics attempting to become a NASA astronaut.
- Ghostwriter: A revamp of the popular 1990s mystery show for kids.
- Oprah's Book Club: Starring Oprah Winfrey, a show that gives a spotlight to new, unknown authors.
- The Elephant Queen: A nature documentary about elephants.
- Servant: A supernatural drama directed (in part) by M. Night Shyamalan
- Truth Be Told: A murder mystery starring Octavia Spencer.
