Let’s face it—streaming is getting expensive. What was once offered as a cheap alternative to cable is now reaching similar costs due to increasing subscription fees across various streaming services. According to Variety, in October 2023 alone, the seven major streaming platforms that increased their prices saw an average rise of 23% in the monthly cost of those subscription tiers.

The good news, though, is that there are still a variety of streaming services that offer you quality content without breaking the bank. We’ve compiled a list of the 14 best streamers under $10, so you can stream your favorite content while saving a few bucks.

1. Netflix

Source: Netflix

Netflix, originally founded in 1997 as a DVD rental-by-mail service and later launching its streaming platform in 2007, has been the biggest name in streaming since, well, streaming was invented. Unlike specialized streaming services catering to specific genres, Netflix offers a variety of titles to a global audience and boasts an extensive library that constantly rotates, heavily featuring original content, making up over half of its offerings.

Plans and pricing

Currently, Netflix only has one plan below $10, and it’s Netflix Standard w/ Ads. This is Netflix’s only ad-supported option, and it gives you access to most of its content (with the exception of a few movies and TV shows).

2. Hulu

Source: Hulu

Hulu, another streaming giant, was also launched in 2007 as a VOD (Video-On-Demand) service. Hulu provides on-demand streaming of TV shows from major networks like ABC and FOX shortly after airing, along with a vast library of movies, documentaries, and popular original programming like The Handmaid’s Tale. In 2017, Hulu launched Hulu + Live TV, integrating live sports, news, and entertainment channels alongside the on-demand library. The on-demand service, similar to Netflix or Disney+, doesn't provide traditional TV channels, making it an ideal choice for those prioritizing extensive content over live TV access.

Plans and pricing

Hulu only offers one plan under $10: Hulu (with ads). Hulu’s ad-supported VOD plan gives you access to its entire content library, including hit movies and TV shows as well as Hulu originals, and lets you stream on up to two devices at once. Students can also get Hulu’s ad-supported plan for as little as $1.99 a month.

If you want to watch without ads, the monthly cost more than doubles.

3. Paramount+

Source: Paramount+

Paramount+ originally launched in 2014 as CBS All Access and relaunched as Paramount+ in 2021. It offers a vast collection of content from channels including CBS, BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, and Paramount Pictures, as well as a wide range of hit original programming like Why Women Kill and the newly revamped iCarly.

Paramount+ has also become the new home of Showtime after the two streamers merged in June of 2023.

Plans and pricing

Paramount+ has two plans, but only one of them is available for under $10: Paramount+ Essential. This will give you ad-supported access to the entire Paramount+ content library in addition to 24/7 live feed from CBS News.

However, if you’re willing to pay a couple of bucks more, you can get Paramount+ w/ Showtime to remove (most) ads, get access to the entire Showtime content library, and watch live TV from your local CBS station. And if you’re a sports fan, you also get access to exclusive college basketball games airing on CBS. Not a bad deal.

Crunchyroll, established in 2006, is a streaming platform primarily dedicated to anime and manga, featuring a vast library of content from Japan and other Asian countries. It offers a diverse range in genres, including action, romance, and fantasy, with simulcast episodes available shortly after airing in Japan. Widely popular among anime enthusiasts, it's perfect for the cord-cutter who wants to leave their streaming bill in one piece (pun intended).

Plans and pricing

Crunchyroll offers two plans below $10: Crunchyroll Fan and Crunchyroll Mega Fan. The exciting thing? They’re both ad-free.

Crunchyroll Fan is the cheapest plan, and it gives you access to the entire Crunchyroll library. The only drawback is that you can only stream on one device at a time, but that’s not a problem if you’re the only one using the plan.

For $2 more, you can get Crunchyroll Mega Fan, which comes with four simultaneous streams, offline viewing, and access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault, a catalog of free games.
