Star Trek isn’t the only thing in the Paramount+ on-demand catalog. The streaming service lets people stream content from CBS, cable channels like Nickelodeon plus Paramount’s own movie studios. But finding out that your favorite content is on Paramount+ isn’t the easiest thing in the world. If you had a Paramount+ API, you could use the streamer’s metadata to help your app or website’s users.
It’s too bad that Paramount+ doesn’t make things easier. Read on for more about whether Paramount+ supports developers and about an easier way to help your users find the streaming content they love.
Is there a Paramount+ API?
Originally the on-demand streaming arm of TV network CBS, a rebranding created Paramount+ to cover all of the content from ViacomCBS’ many production studios. Popular brands from Spongebob to Transformers are all right there in the Paramount+ catalog.
But accessing that catalog’s metadata isn’t easy unless you have a Paramount+ API. Without the streaming service’s help, developers were stuck. They could assemble their own metadata catalog, but that would mean reassigning people from their core products. Paramount+ content comes and goes so someone needs to maintain the catalog every day.
The good news is there are companies such as Reelgood which offer a public API for not only Paramount+ but Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services.
