Dave

  • Release Year: 2020
  • Rating: 8.3/10
  • Stars: David Burd (Lil Dicky), Taylor Misiak, GaTa, Andrew Santino, Travis Bennett, Christine Ko
  • Seasons: 2 (ongoing)

Satirical rapper Lil Dicky’s life and acclaim in the music scene evolve before our eyes in this hilarious and self-deprecating series, “Dave.” Jeff Schaffer and Lil Dicky himself came together to create a chronology of Dave’s life as a suburbia-based nerdy class-clown who has destined himself to go down in history as a rap legend.

Dave’s story is a down-to-earth, relatable account of a “normal guy” who turned himself into one of the biggest names in comedy and rap. The cast includes Lil Dicky’s real-life hype man, GaTa, and Lil Dicky stars as himself. This is a must-see series that will keep you laughing the whole time.

The Simpsons

  • Release Year: 1989
  • Rating: 8.6/10
  • Stars: Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer
  • Seasons: 33

Inextricable from America’s comedy scene, The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom and longest-running animated series. A satirical take on a prototypical American family, The Simpsons maneuver their way through life within the dysfunctional dynamics of a family of five. All distinctly individual characters, Homer is the ignoramus leader of the troops, Marge is a stay-at-home mom and housewife, Bart is the mischievous and rebellious 10-year-old, Lisa is a precocious, fiery, and self-righteous eight-year-old, and Maggie is the baby who dodges most of the families absurdities by silently sucking on her pacifier.

Based in Middle-American suburbia, Simpsons creator Matt Groening intentionally chose the ubiquitous name Springfield for the show’s fictional setting, as Springfield appears in 29 states throughout the United States. He figured viewers would all assume it was “their Springfield,” and they did!

Palm Springs

  • Release Year: 2020
  • Rating: 7.4/10
  • Stars: Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, Peter Gallagher, J.K. Simmons

When the main characters, Nyles and Sarah, meet at a wedding and leave together for a romantic evening on the beach, they were not anticipating spending the rest of their lives together — definitely not in the same way, day-in and day-out. Sarah naively enters a cave that Nyles is vehemently shouting to stay away from and gets sucked into a vortex that sends her back to relive the day she thought had just about ended.

It turns out Nyles was caught in this same trap, and she became forced to begrudgingly join him in this same day, day after day. But she would stop at nothing to figure out an escape. Despite the entertainment, they started getting out of their daily routine.
