Fox News is consistently one of the most-watched 24/7 news channels in the US. Whether you’re trying to watch Fox and Friends, Hannity, or The Ingraham Angle, you can watch Fox News live on Roku. You don’t need a pricey cable subscription to get it, so now is the right time to cut the cord on traditional cable and use your Roku to get all of your favorite cable TV channels, including Fox News.

Let’s explore your top 5 options to get Fox News on Roku at a low cost.

Use a Cord-Cutting Service to Watch Fox News Live on Roku

The Roku is all about cutting the cord and offers a wealth of apps for live TV and on-demand streaming. You can, of course, download and install apps for Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, but you can also use several cord-cutting “skinny bundle” services that offer popular cable TV channels at a low cost compared to traditional cable.

Although Fox News is extremely popular, it’s also not available on every cord-cutting service on the market. The following services are the ones we’ve found that offer Fox News in one of their subscription packages:

  • fuboTV
  • Hulu with Live TV
  • YouTube TV
  • PlayStation Vue
  • DirecTV Now

There’s also a Fox News Roku channel you can install that will let you catch up on episodes from top shows. You can’t use the Fox News Roku channel to watch live TV outside of major news events, however, so you’ll need to sign up to one of the cord-cutting services to get live streaming access.

Now, let’s explore each of these “skinny bundle” services in more detail.

If you’re a sports fan who loves to fill in the gaps with fair and balanced TV news coverage, fuboTV is going to be an excellent choice.

Packages and channels

fuboTV has a sports-centric approach to TV. While you’ll be able to watch Fox News live on Roku as part of either of its two core channel packages, you’ll also have access to a much larger number of sports channels than any other service for the price that you pay.

The base-level “fubo” package, for example, carries Fox News as well as 50-70+ channels, depending on your location. Those channels will include popular sports options like NBC Sports Network, Fox Sports, NBA TV, Big Ten Network, beIN Sports and more. You’ll also get a large number of entertainment channels, like TBS, SYFY, HGTV, TruTV, FX, AMC, and more. And just in case you want to balance out your Fox News with a little bit of “fake news”, CNN is also included.

fuboTV is also one of a very few streaming services that carries Fox Business, making it an all-around great option for Fox fans. And if you need local channels, such as Fox, CBS, or NBC, both of fuboTV”s packages carries those, as well, in many regions.

And should you need more channels, you can opt for the “fubo Extra” package for $49.99 per month. At that price, you’ll get 80-100+ channels depending on location. Most of that increase adds more entertainment and news channels.

Features and extras

Although fuboTV is already cheaper than most cable packages while offering just as many, if not more channels for the price, it may appear to be a bit on the expensive side when compared to an option like Sling TV (which doesn’t carry Fox News).

However, fuboTV has a wide range of additional features and extras that make it one of the best options on the market.

For the price, you’ll get a 30-hour cloud DVR. There are no time restrictions, so you can record shows from Fox News and most other channels and keep them until you want to delete them, or until you start running out of  DVR space. Should you need more space, you can add the Cloud DVR Plus for $9.99 per month, which gives you a rather insane 500 hours of cloud storage (also without any time restrictions).

You can also stream on two devices at once with fuboTV, which is the standard number among most cord-cutting services. If you need more streams, you can add a third using the Family Share add-on for $5.99 per month extra.

Finally, fuboTV is, of course, available as a Roku app, but you can also use it on a large number of other devices. There are apps for iOS and Android devices, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and it can be streamed directly from through a modern web browser.

Hulu with Live TV

You’ve probably already heard of Hulu, but you may not be familiar with its new Live TV service. Hulu with Live TV is a cord-cutting option that simplifies internet TV, and offers an excellent user experience.

Channels and packages

You’ll find just one channel package (sort of) available through Hulu with Live TV. For $39.99, you’ll get around Fox News and around somewhere between 50-70 other channels, depending on your location. Hulu with Live TV also carries MotorTrend, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN News, local broadcast affiliates for NBC, CBS, Fox, and ABC in many areas, and a few dozen other sports and entertainment channels.

We also mentioned that Hulu with Live TV only sort of has one channel package. And indeed, it does only have one primary channel package. But there are two key nuances. First, you can purchase a few add-on channels, like Showtime and HBO, as well as add more entertainment channels and Spanish-language channels.

Secondly, Hulu also comes with the company’s entire on-demand content library. That’s great, but if you don’t want it, you can sign up for Live TV Only. That’ll only get you a $1 discount, however, so it’s not really worth it.

Features and extras

We already mentioned one of the most important Hulu with Live TV features: the inclusion of the entire on-demand library. But this service also has a huge set of extra features that make it an attractive offer.

If you sign up to Hulu with Live TV, you’ll get a 50-hour cloud DVR included for the price. That’s among the highest in the market, at least as far as free DVRs go. But if, for some reason, 50 hours isn’t enough, you can increase that to 200 hours with Hulu’s Enhanced DVR option. That’ll set you back $14.99 per month, however, which is a steep asking price.

Hulu also offers 2 simultaneous streams per account. This, too, can be increased for an added cost (again, a steep $14.99 per month). Their Unlimited Screens add-on does allow you to stream on an unlimited number of devices connected to the same wifi network, or up to 3 devices off-network.

Those steep add-on prices can be somewhat reduced if you join these two add-ons together. You can get both Unlimited Screens and Enhanced Cloud DVR as a combo package for $20. That saves some money if you intended to get both, but it’s still on the pricey side.

Hulu with Live TV has a well-regarded Roku channel, but also works on a large number of other devices, including the Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android phones and tablets, some smart TVs, and other streaming devices like the Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.

YouTube TV

As with Hulu, you’ve probably heard of YouTube but may not have heard of this service’s new live TV streaming service, YouTube TV. It’s a solid entry in the market—if you can get it, that is.

Channels and packages

YouTube TV takes a page out of Hulu with Live TV’s playbook. Instead of multiple channel packages, you’ll get just one subscription option at a cost of $40 per month. With that option, you’ll get 60+ channels in most regions where YouTube TV is available, including Fox News. You’ll also get Fox Business and a few dozen other must-have sports, news, and entertainment channels.

Here’s the biggest difficulty with YouTube TV. It’s currently unavailable in many locations. If you live in or near a major metropolitan area, you can probably get access. But if you live in a rural city or community, you’re probably going to be out of luck. YouTube TV simply isn’t available to many people in rural America at this time.

Features and extras

One of the main reasons to sign up for YouTube TV is the features that it offers. They’re among the best in the market.

YouTube TV offers users the option to create up to 6 individual profiles. Each profiler user gets plenty of benefits as well, including channel customization and their own cloud DVR storage.

Speaking of cloud DVR, YouTube TV offers mostly unlimited cloud DVR storage. The only limitation is that videos expire after 9 months, but each profile users can record as much as they want until videos start expiring 9 months later. YouTube also beats the market average for simultaneous streams. You’ll be able to stream on up to 3 devices per account.

YouTube TV’s Roku app is easy to use, and you should be grateful that it’s available. YouTube TV has no app for the competing Amazon Fire TV device, making the Roku a go-to option for fans of the Fox News Channel.

PlayStation Vue

PlayStation Vue is an excellent option for larger families, and despite the name, it’s available to anyone. No PlayStation gaming console is required!

Channels and packages

If you opt for PlayStation Vue, there are a few packages to choose from:

  • Access – 45+ channels, $44.99/month
  • Core – 60+ channels, $49.99/month
  • Elite – 90+ channels, $69.99/month
  • Ultra – All Elite channels plus HBO/Showtime, $79.99/month

PlayStation Vue’s prices are admittedly on the high end, and start approaching traditional cable in that respect. Thankfully, the lower-cost “Access” package includes the Fox News Channel, as well as Fox Business and other popular networks, like AMC, HGTV, Fox Sports 1 and 2, ESPN and ESPN2, HLN, TBS and more. You can increase your channel package if you desire to add more channels, but the “Access” package may be the best deal if Fox News is your largest consideration.

Features and extras

PlayStation Vue offers an interesting set of features, some great, some not as great.

With this service, you can create a rather impressive 10 individual user profiles. As with YouTube TV, each profile users gets to customize the account and gets their own cloud DVR.

PlayStation Vue’s cloud DVR is somewhat limited, however. You’ll get to record as many videos as you want, but with a 28-day expiration date. You’ll want to make sure you stay on top of your favorite shows, to make sure you don’t accidentally have one of your recordings deleted.

Thankfully, you can stream on up to 5 devices per account, the most for any service in the market without having to pay extra. That makes it a great option for larger families or people who just like to share accounts.

PlayStation Vue’s name is confusing, but you don’t need a PlayStation to watch it. There’s a Roku app available and completely disconnected from the gaming console. If you do have a PlayStation 3 or 4, however, you can stream from there, or on a number of other popular streaming devices and mobile devices.

DirecTV Now

Directv Now fox news roku

DirecTV Now rounds off our list of major cord-cutting services as a viable option, but not the best option.

Channels and packages

For those considering this well-known service, you can choose from 1 of 4 streaming packages:

  • Live A Little – 65+ channels, $40/month
  • Just Right – 85+ channels, $55/month
  • Go Big – 105+ channels, $65/month
  • Gotta Have It  – 125+ channels, $75/month

The Fox News Channel is available through the lower-cost “Live A Little” package, which also carries other popular entertainment and sports networks for cord-cutters.

Features and extras

Considering purchasing DirecTV Now? You’re going to be struggling a bit if you want a service with a good set of features.

On the positive end, this service does offer the industry-standard 2 simultaneous streams per account. And you can even add a third for just $5 per month extra.

But if you want video recording features, this isn’t a great option. DirecTV Now dragged its feet adding cloud DVR, and when it finally did, it only offered 20 hours of cloud storage. To make matters worse, those videos expire after just 30 days. DirecTV Now effectively offers the most restrictive cloud DVR on the market, and especially among those options on our list.

You can install the DirecTV Now channel to start watching Fox News live on Roku. The service also has a large number of other apps available for different streaming devices.
