The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards are set to air on September 12, so you should have enough time to watch a few nominated shows and stars before they announce the winners. Streaming services have been dominating TV awards season recently, and this year is no different. Cord-cutters rejoice as we look at how to watch 2022 Emmy nominees – with no need for cable TV.
The platforms with the most Emmy-nominated shows
Back when the nominees were mostly from the Big 4 TV networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC) and cable powerhouse HBO, crowning “the winning network” was a simple matter. But things are less clear-cut in the streaming era.
While Netflix would prefer to tally HBO and its streaming counterpart HBO Max (which produces its own original content) separately, we keep it simple and look at things from the viewer’s perspective. Focusing on the top categories, we stick to on-demand services that produce content.
Watch these 15 Emmy-nominated shows on HBO Max
With a combined tally of 140 nominations, HBO (108) and HBO Max (32) have 15 shows with major Emmy nominations. All of HBO’s content can be found on HBO Max, which can be subscribed to as a standalone service or as an add-on with Hulu, as well as select live-TV services like Sling TV, DirecTV Stream, and YouTube TV.
