StarzBest of

With so many streaming services in operation today, it can certainly be challenging to choose which ones are best for you. While it is true that Starz may not have the same amount of huge blockbuster names as the bigger services such as HBO, Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video, there are still tons of amazing movies to watch.

Yes, God, Yes (2019)

  • Rating: R
  • Stars: 6.1/10 (IMDB)

Alice discovers masturbation as a Catholic teen in the early 2000s and struggles to explore her newfound sexuality in the face of her pressuring religion.

This movie is full of awkward, funny moments that make you feel nostalgic in a strange way. Most of us remember what it was like to discover things about ourselves that we hadn’t thought about before and it’s a lot to deal with. Seeing that on screen addressed in a cheeky, but also meaningful way is refreshing and definitely worth the watch if you can stomach the second hand embarrassment.

An American Tail (1986)

  • Rating: G
  • Stars: 6.9/10 (IMDB)

While immigrating by boat to New York from Russia, Fievel falls overboard and is ends up in the City separated from his family. Now he must find his way back to them in an unknown city.

This may be a kids movie, but it doesn’t pull any punches in terms of heartbreak and heavy themes.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

  • Rating: PG-13
  • Stars: 8.0/10 (IMDB)

While you can watch almost all of the MCU on Disney+, STARZ still has some of those titles under its belt and Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best that the MCU has to offer.

What makes the Guardians both a great team and series of films is the chemistry between the core cast and the devotion that everyone involved with the films has. This movie has a little something for everyone, cementing itself as a blockbuster classic enjoyable for the whole family.

Night Of The Living Dead (1968)

  • Rating: NR
  • Stars: 7.9/10 (IMDB)

Zombie apocalypse film fan? While there are many, many choices for you with realistic graphics and gore that would keep any squeamish person up all night with nightmares, why not check out one of the genre’s groundbreaking films, 1968’s Night Of The Living Dead? It isn’t the first zombie film ever made, but it’s certainly a classic!

The movie follows a group of people stuck in an abandoned house as they realize there are more and more zombies coming (back) to life by the minute! Not only does their survival depend on staying safe from the zombies, but drama plagues the group as well. They have fights over who will be in charge of their group - too much to deal with when you are surrounded by zombies!
