Apple TV+ on the Nintendo Switch
No, the Apple TV+ does not work on the Nintendo Switch. Not only is there no Appel TV+ app available for the Nintendo Switch, but there’s also no current information from Apple about whether there will be one in the future.
Nintendo’s platform is currently the only major console with no Apple TV+ app. The service is available through Apple TV if you have the Apple TV app installed onto a PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Xboxs Series S console.
The only streaming apps currently available on the Nintendo Switch are YouTube and Hulu (including Hulu Live TV).
Finally, as the Nintendo Switch has no web browser, you also can’t use a workaround to stream Apple TV+ on Nintendo’s home console.
If you’re disappointed that you can’t use Apple TV+ with the Nintendo Switch, you can take some relief in the number of alternatives. At present, you can use Apple TV+ with all of the following devices:
- iPod Touch
- Apple TV (and Apple TV 4K)
- Mac computers
- Android devices (version 5.0 and up)
- Windows computers
- Apple AirPlay
- Newer Samsung, Sony, LG, and VIZIO smart TVs
- Newer Roku devices and Roku TVs
- Amazon Fire TV
- PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles
- Xbox One, Xbox X, and Xbox Series S consoles.
Apple TV supports up to 6 simultaneous streams per account. You should be able to install it on multiple devices that allow you and your family and friends to watch content at the same time.
Will Apple add support for gaming consoles like the Nintendo Switch? Who knows. Apple hasn’t made any announcements on that end. Your current, best option is to opt for any device you currently own that works.
Alternatively, you may want to buy a new Apple product to stream Apple TV+. The company is offering a free year of Apple TV+ with the purchase of a new iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Apple TV, or Mac computer.
