Although late to the streaming game, NBC Universal is betting that a freemium business model will convince people to give Peacock a shot — and then start paying. How much does Peacock cost?
When Peacock first launched, it’s most coveted feature was its free plan, but that has since been discontinued. Peacock has two plans: Premium and Premium Plus.
There are few differences between the plans. Premium gives you access to the entire on-demand library, live sports and select events, and 50+ genre-curated channels. With Premium Plus, you get all of that as well as no ads, the ability to download titles, and live 24/7 access to your local NBC station.
Does Peacock have any paid add-ons?
You won't find any "upgrade" features or premium content add-ons with Peacock. As long as you choose either the Premium or Premium Plus monthly subscription plan, you get full access to all of the content and features on Peacock.
Does Peacock have extra hidden fees?
Even though Peacock is ultimately owned by a cable company, you won’t find any hidden fees. Outside of any fees or taxes that your government might charge you, the subscription plan fees you see are all that you'll pay for Peacock.
You can cancel a paid Peacock subscription at any time without having to pay a cancellation fee. However, you won’t be refunded any unused time. Instead, you’ll keep your access to Peacock through the end of the current billing period.
Does Peacock offer a free trial?
When Peacock launched nationally in the summer of 2020, new users were able to try Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium+ for 7 days for free. Of course, the free option was also available.
Unfortunately, Peacock's 7-day free trial for its Premium plans was discontinued, as was its free plan. However, you can also check out the full Peacock channel list to see what's there before signing up.
How do you renew Peacock plans?
Peacock's paid subscription plans are billed on a monthly basis. As long as you retain the subscription, you will be billed at the beginning of the new month. The company has not said whether it will offer annual subscriptions.
There is no cancellation fee. If you decide to discontinue your paid subscription plan, you just do so through the account section on Peacock’s website. Although you won’t be charged for canceling, you won’t get a refund for the unused time. You will, however, still be able to watch Peacock through the end of the current billing cycle.
Is Peacock worth it?
Whether you want to shell out more money for another streaming service is a personal decision. However, Peacock’s ad-supported plan is one of the most affordable streaming options out there and its extensive library and channel lineup are packed with content. It may at least be worth trying out.
