In early 2020, just as everyone had to stay home due to the coronavirus, Peacock, owned by NBCUniversal, launched as a limited-access service. Although it’s still quite new compared to other streaming services, it’s quickly become a family favorite due to its budget-friendly cost and great content library.
Want to know what channels you get with Peacock? We’ll walk you through them, as well as all the other on-demand content you get with your subscription.
And if you’re a new subscriber and you’re looking for things to watch, we’ve also created a free TV Guide for Peacock that you can use to learn what’s playing on any Peacock channel at any time.

Peacock’s Plans & Pricing
If you don’t already know about Peacock‘s prices, here’s the lowdown.
Peacock has three service offerings. The first is a free, ad-supported plan that provides access to a limited amount of content, with no option to watch live sports. The second is the Peacock Premium plan that, while still ad-supported, unlocks all of Peacock’s content. Finally, the Peacock Premium+ plan removes most advertising for an extra monthly fee.
You can learn more about Peacock‘s plans and pricing here.
At the moment, if you’re an Xfinity customer, you’ll get the Peacock Premium plan free as part of your broadband service. You can always choose to upgrade to the Peacock Premium+ plan if you want to lose the ads.
The ads appear in on-demand TV shows and made-for-TV movies during the same commercial breaks you would get on live TV, but it’s slightly better with Peacock. You only have to watch one or two ads, and the breaks last for a minute or less. That makes it a lot less intrusive than what you experience on live TV. Movies that were released in theaters have not been “edited for TV” and do not have commercial breaks.

The Common Questions
How Bad is Advertising on Peacock?
TV shows and made-for-TV movies already have commercial breaks built in, and Peacock uses all of them. Expect five breaks during a one-hour TV episode. But the experience isn’t as bad as it is on cable since the ads only last between twenty and sixty seconds. Theatrically-released movies in the on-demand catalog do not have commercial breaks.
Does Peacock Have Any Paid Add-Ons?
No, there are no “upgrade” features or premium content add-ons. As long as you choose either the Premium or Premium+ monthly subscription plans, you get full access to all of the content and features on Peacock.
Does Peacock Have Extra Hidden Fees?
Even though Peacock is ultimately owned by a cable company, you won’t find any hidden fees.
You can cancel a paid Peacock subscription at any time without having to pay a cancellation fee. However, you won’t be refunded any unused time. Instead, you’ll keep your access to Peacock through the end of the current month.
Does Peacock Offer a Free Trial for New Users?
Yes! New users will be able to try Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium+ for seven days without paying a fee. Of course, the free option will always be available.
Xfinity broadband customers already get Peacock Premium free of charge, but they can see what the ad-free experience is like by getting a seven-day free trial of Peacock Premium+.
