Essential – The Essential plan is the cheapest option for new Paramount+ subscribers. With this plan, you’ll have to watch ads and you will not have access to local channels. You will, however, have access to the rest of the Paramount+ library of live TV and on-demand content.

Premium – The Premium plan is the option to choose if you want the full Paramount+ package, including local channel access. Premium subscribers get full access to the whole catalog of Paramount+ content without any ads. They also get exclusive access to local CBS news networks across the US.
As explained above, only Premium subscribers get access to local channels. So, if you want to watch local news in your area, you’ll need to choose the Premium plan when signing up or upgrade your existing Essential plan.

So, which local channels are available on Paramount+? Well, you’ll only get access to one local channel with this streaming service: your local CBS broadcast network.

Can you change your location to access other local channels on Paramount+?
Many people wonder if it is possible to change location on Paramount+ and view CBS local news for other areas. For example, if you usually live in New York but are on vacation in LA, you might still want to access local NYC news on Paramount+.
Sadly, the Paramount+ app does not yet include a feature or functionality to allow users to switch locations or access other local news channels in areas outside of their current location.
The only way you can view other local CBS news on Paramount+ is to use a VPN. You can download a VPN and then connect to a server in the area you want to see news from. For example, you could connect to a Boston server and then go to Paramount+ to watch Boston’s local CBS news.
