Thinking about Showtime as your go-to streaming service? Use this guide to learn about how you can get a free trial and what you can watch.
CBS-owned network, Showtime, is home to some of the best TV and movie entertainment content. It started as a popular TV network and has kept up with the times by establishing its own streaming service so you can watch its content cable-free. With more streaming services on offer than ever before, we know it’s not an easy decision to add another subscription to your monthly budget. The good news is, Showtime offers a 30-day free trial, whereby you can test out its services and see if it’s the right fit for you.
Free trials can be a great place to start when considering your streaming options. Showtime’s free trial is one of the longer trials on offer. With it, you get to experience all of Showtime’s functions, from access to on-demand content to commercial-free streaming.
How to get a Showtime free trial?
There are a few different ways you can get a Showtime free trial — it depends on whether or not you subscribe directly to Showtime’s standalone streaming service. If you use Showtime as an add-on to other streaming services, like Amazon Prime or Hulu, free trial periods will look a little different.
Showtime only offers one type of free trial and it’s easy to sign-up. All you have to do is head to Showtime’s website and sign up for an account by clicking “Start Your Free Trial.” Showtime won’t charge your credit card on file until your free trial ends. Keep in mind that if you decide you don’t want to continue your subscription when your trial ends, you must manually cancel your account. Showtime allows you to cancel your subscription at any time.
On Amazon Prime
If you purchase Showtime as an add-on to your Amazon Prime account, you will also gain access to a free trial period. Unlike Showtime’s plan, however, your free trial period with Amazon will only last for seven days. After the trial period expires, Showtime costs $10.99 per month on top of your Prime plan for $12.99 per month.
You can use Showtime as an add-on service to your Hulu plan. Similar to Amazon’s Showtime add-on, you will get the first seven days of Showtime for free. After your free trial, the add-on will cost $10.99 per month on top of your Hulu base subscription for $5.99 per month.
This is one of the most obvious ways to watch Showtime content, considering CBS owns the network. CBS and Showtime are on offer as a bundle for $14.99 per month. CBS All-Access has a trial period of seven days, but unfortunately you can’t access Showtime content during this period. If you’re after a Showtime Free Trial, CBS All-Access is not the right option for you.

After a free trial, Showtime will begin to charge you its normal monthly fee of $10.99 per month (unless you have decided to cancel your subscription). You’ll have access to a user-friendly interface with all your favorite content.
- Showtime Anytime: Showtime Anytime is an app and website that cable and live TV streaming subscribers can access. Showtime is free for those who pay for the channel via a third-party service or cable provider.
Keep in mind that if you’re outside of the US, you won’t be able to watch Showtime or make the most of your free trial period. That means if you’re planning on traveling, you might be best off waiting to start your free trial until you’re home.
Is Showtime’s stand-alone service the best option?
We highly recommend Showtime’s streaming service if your favorite content is from the network. If you want access to shows and films from other streaming services, consider other options which offer Showtime as an add-on. You might find it easier to have all of your content, including Showtime content, in one place. However, watching Showtime with other services will mean that your free trial period won’t be as long or may not be on offer at all.
In terms of Showtime’s trial offers, the stand-alone service offers the most extended and most flexible free trial.
Is a Showtime free trial worth it?
If you’re a fan of Showtime’s content, a free trial is definitely worth it. There aren’t many downsides to trying out Showtime’s free trial, given you can cancel it at any time. If you don’t want to continue to subscribe to Showtime, make sure you cancel your subscription before the trial period ends. All in all, it gives you a full month to take the service out for a spin.
