What to know about the HBO Max and Xfinity bundle
Award-winning HBO shows and movies and the best assortment of live TV channels cable has to offer? You don’t have to choose—here’s how to bundle HBO Max with Xfinity for the best of both worlds.
In May 2020, HBO Max became WarnerMedia’s main destination for all of its popular movies and shows. Replacing HBO Now and HBO Go, this upgraded service certainly doesn’t disappoint! It includes expansions into HBO’s cable library, WarnerMedia’s other properties (DC, CNN, TNT, TBS, and Cartoon Network), giving some strong competition to Disney+ and Netflix.
The good news: you don’t have to choose between your favorite channels and HBO Max when you bundle HBO Max with Xfinity cable. When you sign up for Xfinity X1, you instantly have access to thousands of shows and movies at no additional cost.
What are Xfinity Flex and Xfinity X1 and how much do they cost?
Used to jumping through hoops when it comes to figuring out the cost for TV services, Internet, and HBO? Say goodbye to stress—sign up for Xfinity X1 at only $129.99 per month (for a one-year agreement) and enjoy HBO Max for free, along with 220+ channels and access to a wide array of live sporting events like NBA, NFL, and MLB games and more. After its free trial, HBO Max can be streamed for $14.99 per month. Best of all? This package includes access to 1200 Mbps Internet and a $100 prepaid Visa gift card.

How do you make it happen?
Ready to take advantage of the deal? Signing up for Xfinity 1 is simple! Check out the packages available in your area on the Xfinity website. When you sign up and get Xfinity Internet cable installed at your home or business, you’ll use your Xfinity login information for instant access to HBO Max content. Here’s how to do it:
- Launch the HBO Max app from the Apps menu, the select “Sign In.” You’ll see a unique activation code display on your screen in purple letters and numbers.
- On your phone or computer, visit hbomax.com/tvsignin and enter the purple activation code on your TV screen. Time is of the essence, though—the code expires after 15 minutes, and you’ll need to start the process over.
- Once you’ve entered the code, you’ll be redirected to a new sign-in page. There, you’ll enter your Xfinity TV login information and, on the next screen, select “xfinity” from the list of providers.
- From here, it’s time to set up your HBO Max account. Enter your first and last name as well as your email address…and that’s it! Now you can enjoy access to all HBO Max content.
What’s there to Watch on HBO Max?
A better question: what isn’t there to watch on HBO Max. Here are some recommendations if you find yourself in the mood to view but not sure where to start. We’ve listed our top three here, but lucky for you HBO Max offers thousands of options of documentaries, movies, and series, even including their HBO Max Originals like Euphoria! You’re sure to find something from any decade or genre to enjoy from the comfort of your home.
The White Lotus
High-maintenance guests and a manager slowly losing his cool make for a limited series full of twists and turns in this dark comedy. Did we mention it takes place at a luxury hotel? Come for the views, stay for the drama…we promise it’s worth it.
Mare of East Town
Ready to see Kate Winslet as a gritty Pennsylvanian cop? We were, too. This drama centers around the murder of a teenage mother in a small town…but that’s only the beginning. Full of twists (and Kate Winslet saying “water” in a unique accent), this series is not to miss.
FBoy Island
There are good boys, there are bad boys…and then there are FBoys. Welcome to FBoy Island, a reality series where three single women attempt to sort the men looking for true love from those looking for one night. With plenty of abs and shirtless, self-absorbed singles, the series is a guilty pleasure that you really won’t feel that guilty about.
Is it Worth it?
If you’re looking to satisfy a family or group of people with lots of interests and find a new Internet service provider, it’s hard to beat bundling Xfinity with HBO Max. While the monthly price might seem steep, paying for all of the subscriptions that come loaded with Xfinity X1 plus live TV and Internet is at least twice the cost. From sporting events to the latest and greatest in HBO TV and movies, the access to exclusive content as well as live TV is unparalleled.
If you’re looking for HBO Max access but not as into sports or live television, you can pass on this one—the monthly cost is steep for anyone who’s a more casual viewer or who doesn’t necessarily need access to a wide variety of channels.
