The Weather Channel is a great source for news on what’s streaming down from the sky but only with a subscription to fuboTV, AT&T TV Now or Xfinity Instant TV. Remarkably, The Weather Channel does not serve the cord-cutting community very well. You can’t even watch a live stream of The Weather Channel on its own website. This article will help you choose your best option. To make it easier to see what’s on now and in the coming week, Flixed has created a channel guide for The Weather Channel.
Before we continue, we want to highlight a particularly relevant stream for news, sports, and entertainment. Sling TV is one of the best options for streaming with a rich catalogue of 50+ live channels and 50k+ on-demand movies and episodes.

fuboTV Channels
FuboTV was the first — and is still the only — streaming service to offer live TV streams in 4K resolution with high dynamic range (HDR) video quality. The 4K Ultra High Definition video is only available for certain sports events on Fox and FS1. Although the streaming service’s real strength is international soccer, you’ll be able to watch plenty of American sports on league-specific channels and the cable sports channels from ESPN, Fox, CBS and NBC.
In addition to The Weather Channel, fuboTV has all of the main cable news networks. You also get the digital-first news channels CBSN and Cheddar.
You can learn even more about fuboTV’s channel lineup here.
fuboTV Local Channels and Regional Sports Networks
Outside of a few major markets, sports fans will be frustrated with the lack of regional sports networks on fuboTV. To an extent this is the result of Fox dumping its regional channels after selling its studios to Disney.
Support for the local network affiliates is better. Most people will be able to watch their local NBC station and there’s a good chance the Fox station will also be available. Local CBS stations are only available in about half the country. Only a dozen markets get their local ABC station, but that should improve in 2021.

Watch The Weather Channel on Xfinity Instant TV

In an effort to stem its losses from cord-cutting, Comcast’s Xfinity has created its own skinny bundle streaming service. Even when people cancel their cable television service, they still keep their high-bandwidth cable internet service. By offering Xfinity Instant TV, the cable company is able to keep a slice of customers’ entertainment budget.
Xfinity Instant TV Pricing and Packages
The base price for Xfinity Instant TV is $20 per month. This gets you a basic basket of 40 local and cable TV channels.
However, the only way to get The Weather Channel is to subscribe to the Sports & News channel pack. You get sixteen other channels including CNN, Fox News and ESPN. The monthly cost of the Sports & News channel pack is $37.
The Entertainment channel pack adds twenty-seven more channels including AMC, Food Network and BET. This expansion option will set you back $15 per month.
You’ll get another ten channels with the Kids & Family channel pack. For $10 per month, you get channels like the Cartoon Network, National Geographic and Universal Kids.
The only premium movie channel is Epix which will cost $6 per month.
Xfinity Instant TV Channels
The Xfinity Instant TV channel listing includes more of your local broadcast channels than fuboTV or other competitors offer. The CW, Telemundo, Comet and other smaller local channels are all included. Fans of public television will appreciate this since PBS is not an option with most streaming services. Home shopping channels and C-SPAN round out the lineup with the base subscription.
As mentioned earlier, you can add the Weather Channel and up to fifty-three other channels by adding channel packs to your subscription.
Xfinity Instant TV Supported Devices
Right now, the Xfinity Stream app is only available on mobile devices and certain Samsung smart TVs. The company has a beta program underway to expand streaming support to Roku
- Living room devices: None.
- Smart TVs and Blu-ray players: Samsung televisions.
- Mobile devices and tablets: Android and iOS.
- Game consoles: None.
- Desktop browsers: Most browsers.
Xfinity Instant TV Simultaneous Streams
Given how few devices support the Xfinity Stream app, the cable company has not set limits on simultaneous streaming.
Xfinity Instant TV DVR
The Xfinity Instant TV cloud DVR will only let you record up to twenty hours of content. The company has enabled fast-forwarding through commercials by default and users of the mobile app can download recordings for offline viewing.
Xfinity Instant TV On-Demand Library
Xfinity Instant TV has a limited selection of free on-demand content.
Use The Weather Channel App

The Weather Channel became the first 24-hour weather channel on cable all the way back in 1982 and traces its history even further to the early 1970s. The company’s age may be why The Weather Channel is surprisingly behind the times when it comes to serving cord cutters.
Only allowing its streams to go through fuboTV or Xfinity Instant TV is bad enough, but the paltry selection of apps is also telling. You can’t even watch The Weather Channel on its own website.
Even with the mobile apps, you only get on-demand content from The Weather Channel rather than a live stream of its broadcast.
The Weather Channel App Pricing and Packages
The Weather Channel’s mobile apps are free. That gets you the radar graphics, daily forecasts and 48-hour hourly weather forecasts. However, you will also get banner ads as well as video ads.
For a $1 monthly fee or a $10 annual fee, you can remove the ads from your app as well as get extended 96-hour forecasts.
The Weather Channel Device Support

The Weather Channel has an extremely limited selection of apps. The company evidently assumes you only watch TV on mobile. Even its website won’t let you stream its live broadcast.
- Living room devices: Apple TV.
- Smart TVs and Blu-ray players: None.
- Mobile devices and tablets: Android and iOS.
- Game consoles: None.
- Desktop browsers: None.
