Go back to the way music TV was in the 80s by watching MTV Classic on Philo, fuboTV or AT&T TV Now. The cable channel does nothing but air music videos from the past forty years. However, watching MTV Classic without cable can get expensive since Philo is the only service that includes the channel with an inexpensive subscription plan. This article will help you choose your best option. Flixed has also created a channel guide for MTV Classic to help you know what’s playing.
Before we start, we want to highlight a particularly relevant stream in these uncertain times. Sling TV is one of the best options for streaming in 2021 with a rich catalogue of 50+ live channels and 50k+ on-demand movies and episodes.

Watch MTV Classic on Philo

Philo broke with tradition in 2017 when it launched its streaming service. Rather than try to copy the cable companies, Philo refused to offer sports channels, news networks or local TV stations. Those happen to be the most expensive TV channels — and a big reason why pay TV is so expensive. For a low price, Philo lets you watch MTV Classic and other popular channels without cable.
Philo Pricing and Packages
For $20 per month, Philo delivers nearly sixty basic cable channels.
61 Channels 7-day free trial $20.00/ month | 61 channels Starz and Epix add-ons 3 simultaneous streams 30-Day DVR | SIGN UP |
Although Philo does not let you expand your channel lineup, it does let you subscribe to the Starz and Epix premium movie channels for an extra monthly fee.
You can learn more about Philo’s pricing and packages here.
Philo Channels
Philo includes all of the various MTV channels, not just MTV Classic. You also get entertainment channels like A&E, lifestyle channels like Travel Channel and documentary channels like Science Channel.
Given all the local, news and sports channels you don’t get with Philo, the streaming service won’t appeal to everyone. However, it’s a great way to supplement traditional over-the-air broadcast TV with extra content.

Watch MTV Classic on fuboTV

Over the past few years fuboTV has transformed itself from a soccer-focused streaming service to a high-quality cable-replacement service. The entire family can find something to watch on the variety of entertainment, lifestyle and information channels. Watching MTV Classic, however, will cost you a little more.
fuboTV Pricing and Packages
Of fuboTV’s two subscription plans, only the higher-priced Elite plan comes with MTV Classic by default. For more than $100 per month, the Elite plan has about fifty more channels and improved features.
Family 7-day free trial $64.99/ month | 114 channels 3 simultaneous streams 500 hours of DVR space ESPN SHOWTIME Sports Plus add-on | SIGN UP |
Family Plan with Showtime 7-day free trial $74.99/ month | 114 channels 2 simultaneous streams 500 hours of DVR space ESPN SHOWTIME included Sports Plus add-on | SIGN UP |
Ultra 7-day free trial $84.99/ month | 196 channels 3 simultaneous streams 500 hours of DVR space ESPN SHOWTIME included Sports Plus add-on | SIGN UP |
However, for only $8 per month you can get the fuboTV Extra add-on package to the Family plan. That will deliver all of the extra channels that come with the Elite plan but not the improved features.
You can learn more about fuboTV’s pricing and packages here.
fuboTV Channels
Sports fans are fuboTV’s real target audience. Besides including dozens of sports-focused channels, fuboTV also streams certain sports events in 4K from Fox and FS1. But you’ll also get plenty of American sports with all of the cable sports channels from ESPN, Fox and NBC. For the rest of the family, each plan includes a wealth of basic cable news, lifestyle, entertainment and kids channels.
You can learn even more about fuboTV’s channel lineup here.
fuboTV Local Channels and Regional Sports Networks
Despite fuboTV’s focus on sports, the streaming service has struggled to keep the regional sports networks in its roster. Outside of a handful of markets, most people will be out of luck.
Support for the big networks’ local stations is decent. NBC markets are best-represented with Fox stations close behind. Support for CBS stations is so-so with only about half of the country able to stream in their local markets. Only a dozen markets can get their local ABC stations.

fuboTV Supported Devices
All of fuboTV’s apps support the 4K streams — as long as your home theater system can handle them.
- Living room devices: Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast and Roku.
- Smart TVs and Blu-ray players: Samsung televisions as well as devices based on Fire TV, Android TV and Roku.
- Mobile devices and tablets: Android and iOS.
- Game consoles: Microsoft Xbox One.
- Desktop browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
You can learn more about fuboTV’s device support here.
fuboTV Simultaneous Streams
Much of the price difference for the Elite plan comes from its better features. For example, people in your household can stream simultaneously to as many as eight devices — five devices on your home network and three devices on mobile networks. However, going with the Family plan doesn’t cost you too much. You can stream to three devices at home and two one road — a policy that’s better than many other streaming services.

fuboTV DVR
The Elite plan also lets you save up to 1,000 hours of content to the fuboTV cloud DVR versus the still-generous 250 hours with the Family plan.
You’ll find more details about fuboTV’s cloud DVR here.
fuboTV On-Demand Library
In addition to the on-demand content from its content providers, fuboTV has begun creating its own original sports-themed content.

ÂWatch MTV Classic with AT&T TV Now

AT&T TV Now is the priciest streaming service on the market. Granted, you get premium features, more channels than most streamers, and even HBO Max with some plans. But still, MTV Classic probably isn’t enough by itself to justify the cost. Look carefully before you commit.
AT&T TV Now Pricing and Packages
AT&T TV Now has seven subscription plans which include the two feature plans – Max and Plus – as well as five more expensive plans – Entertainment, Choice, Extra, Ultimate and Premier.Â
Plus 7-day free trial $55/ month | 45+ channels 3 simultaneous streams 500 hours of DVR space Add-ons like HBO and Showtime | SIGN UP |
Max 7-day free trial $80/ month | 60+ channels 3 simultaneous streams 500 hours of DVR space HBO Max Included | SIGN UP |
Unfortunately, the only plans that include MTV Classic are the three most expensive – Xtra, Ultimate and Premier. These plans cost $124 per month, $135 per month and $183 per month, respectively.
You can add Spanish-language channels to the main subscription packages. There’s a five-channel sports-centric expansion pack that only costs $5 per month. The more full-featured AT&T TV Now Español expansion pack has fifty channels for another $15 per month.
AT&T TV Now also offers international expansion options. The Brazilian and Korean subscription plans cost $30 per month and the Vietnamese subscription plan costs $20 per month.
