Disney+ is the Best Option for Watching Disney Movies & TV Shows Online
If you are a big Disney fan, Disney+ is certainly the best streaming service for you. With Disney+, you can watch Disney movies and TV shows online and enjoy a total of more than 500 movies and 7,500 episodes of TV.
Disney+ is the exclusive home of a ton of Disney properties, including Disney classic movies like Dumbo, Cinderella and Snow White, as well as franchises like Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Pixar.
Not only that, but it’s relatively affordable, has great device support, and has useful features like intuitive parental controls, making it a major competitor to other streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video. Let’s discuss this streaming service in more detail now.
Disney+ content library
Let’s start by discussing the Disney+ content library. If you want to watch Disney movies and TV shows online, Disney+ is simply the best option out there, full stop.
While some competing streaming services still have some Disney shows and movies, they still can’t even come close to the sheer volume of content that is available on Disney+. Let’s take a deeper look at the Disney movies and TV shows available to watch online with Disney+.
Just about every major Disney movie is available on Disney+, though some titles from Star Wars, Marvel and other Disney-owned properties are not yet available due to licensing to other streaming services. A few of the top titles available on this streaming service include:
- Captain Marvel
- Star Wars Episodes I-VII
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
- A Bug’s Life
- Toy Story, Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4
- The Incredibles
- 101 Dalmatians
- Big Hero 6
- The Jungle Book
- The Lion King
On the TV side of things, Disney+ has Disney Channel shows, National Geographic, and even original content like The Mandalorian, an all-new series set in the Star Wars universe, and Monsters at Work, which will be a spin-off of the Monsters Inc. franchise. Plenty of other original shows are also in development. Here are a few of the top Disney TV shows you can watch online with Disney+.
- The Simpsons
- Darkwing Duck
- Gravity Falls
- Kim Possible
- Lilo & Stitch: The Series
- Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man
- Tangled: The Series
- Boy Meets World
- Lizzie McGuire
- That’s So Raven
- Wizards of Waverly Place
- Malcolm in the Middle
- The Muppets
We can’t publish a full list of all of the thousands of shows and movies available on Disney+ here, so these are just some highlights. For a more in-depth breakdown, take a look at this article from Collider.
Disney+ plans and pricing
There are two primary ways you can subscribe to Disney+. A month-to-month subscription will cost you $6.99/month, or you can choose to sign up for a full year for $69.99. That works out to about $5.83/month, so you’re better off choosing the year-long subscription if you know you’ll like the content that Disney+ has to offer.
You can also sign up for Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ as part of a three streaming service combo deal. You’ll pay $12.99/month for this bundle, which is a good deal considering that Hulu costs $5.99/month, and ESPN+ costs $4.99/month. If you’re interested in the content these services have to offer, you can save big with a bundle.

Disney+ supported devices
You can watch Disney movies and TV shows online with your web browser. However, Disney+ supports plenty of other devices, too. You can watch it on iOS and Android, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gaming consoles, and on Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Roku and Chromecast.
Disney+ simultaneous streams
Disney+ lets you stream on up to 4 devices at once, and create up to 7 different accounts. This is more generous than Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime, making this a great choice if you have a large household of Disney fans.
Can I Get Any Special Deals On Disney+?
Yes. You can get a free week-long trial the first time you sign up, and there are a few other special deals for Disney+ that are available. For example, select Verizon customers can get a free year of Disney+ with their home internet or wireless subscription.

Watch Disney Movies and TV Shows on Hulu
Despite the fact that it’s your best option, Disney+ isn’t the only option that you have to watch Disney movies and TV shows online. Hulu is a pretty good alternative. In fact, since Disney is the majority shareholder of Hulu, you can find quite a bit of Disney content on this streaming service – though not as much as you’d find on Disney+.
Some of the Disney movies and TV shows currently available on Hulu include Gravity Falls, Hercules, Pocahontas and Zapped, just to name a few. The selection certainly is not as wide as Disney+, but Hulu is still a decent alternative to consider.
You’ll pay $5.99/month (ad-supported) or $11.99/month (ad-free) to subscribe to Hulu. And remember, Disney+ does have a bundle deal that packages Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ together for just $12.99/month, so that’s a good option if you’d like to watch Disney movies and TV shows online with Hulu.
Watch Disney Movies and TV Shows on Netflix
Before Disney+ launched in November 2019, Disney had sold the rights to its content to a number of third-party streaming services, including Netflix. For now, Netflix does have a pretty solid selection of Disney movies and shows, though many of these will be lost in the near-future as their content rights expire. A few of the Disney movies you can watch on Netflix include:
- The Princess and the Frog
- Incredibles 2
- Ralph Breaks The Internet
- Mary Poppins Returns
- Chicken Little
- Disney Bedtime Stories
- A Wrinkle In Time
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi
- Solo: A Star Wars Story
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Thor: Ragnarok
- Ant-Man & The Wasp
- Black Panther
If you already have Netflix, these Disney movies are nice to have. However, Disney has been working to get its content rights back from most third-party streaming services, so many of these titles will likely not be available for much longer.
Netflix is also quite a bit more expensive than Disney+, so we wouldn’t recommend signing up for it as an alternative. The Netflix Standard plan, which supports HD streaming and lets you watch on up to 2 devices at once, costs $12.99/month, which is nearly twice what you’ll pay with Disney+.
Watch Disney Movies and TV Shows on Amazon Prime Video
You can watch just about every Disney movie and TV show online on Amazon Prime Video, but there’s a catch. You have to pay extra – because Disney content is not included in your Amazon Prime Video membership. You will have to rent or purchase each movie individually.
This is one of the confusing things about Amazon Prime Video. Unlike the other streaming services on this list, it includes a large amount of free, on-demand content, but also includes paid content that costs an additional fee to buy or rent, like Disney movies and TV shows.
So, while you can certainly watch Disney movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime Video, it’s not a good option. Even if you purchase or rent a single Disney movie a month from Amazon Prime Video (which can cost anywhere from $2.99 to $19.99) Disney+ is a better option.
Are Disney Movies Going To Disappear From Other Streaming Services?
Yes. With the possible exception of Hulu (which is majority-owned by Disney), it seems likely that Disney will begin pulling its content from other streaming services like Netflix. It’s already made agreements with Netflix and Starz to get content rights to movies like Captain America: The First Avenger and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Over time, we expect that pretty much every Disney movie and TV show will become exclusive to Disney+. This just makes sense, since Disney+ is intended to be the top destination for streaming Disney content.
However, this also means that, a year or two from now, you’ll probably need a Disney+ subscription to watch content from franchises and studios like Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and others – we don’t expect any new Disney content to come to other streaming services like Netflix in the future.
