Despite the fact that it’s your best option, Disney+ isn’t the only option that you have to watch Disney movies and TV shows online. Hulu is a pretty good alternative. In fact, since Disney is the majority shareholder of Hulu, you can find quite a bit of Disney content on this streaming service – though not as much as you’d find on Disney+.
Some of the Disney movies and TV shows currently available on Hulu include Gravity Falls, Hercules, Pocahontas and Zapped, just to name a few. The selection certainly is not as wide as Disney+, but Hulu is still a decent alternative to consider.

Before Disney+ launched in November 2019, Disney had sold the rights to its content to a number of third-party streaming services, including Netflix. For now, Netflix does have a pretty solid selection of Disney movies and shows, though many of these will be lost in the near-future as their content rights expire. Netflix is also quite a bit more expensive than Disney+, so we wouldn’t recommend signing up for it as an alternative. The Netflix Standard plan, which supports HD streaming and lets you watch on up to 2 devices at once, costs $12.99/month, which is nearly twice what you’ll pay with Disney+.
Watch Disney Movies and TV Shows on Amazon Prime Video
You can watch just about every Disney movie and TV show online on Amazon Prime Video, but there’s a catch. You have to pay extra – because Disney content is not included in your Amazon Prime Video membership. You will have to rent or purchase each movie individually.
This is one of the confusing things about Amazon Prime Video. Unlike the other streaming services on this list, it includes a large amount of free, on-demand content, but also includes paid content that costs an additional fee to buy or rent, like Disney movies and TV shows.
So, while you can certainly watch Disney movies and TV shows on Amazon Prime Video, it’s not a good option. Even if you purchase or rent a single Disney movie a month from Amazon Prime Video (which can cost anywhere from $2.99 to $19.99) Disney+ is a better option.
Are Disney Movies Going To Disappear From Other Streaming Services?
Yes. With the possible exception of Hulu (which is majority-owned by Disney), it seems likely that Disney will begin pulling its content from other streaming services like Netflix. It’s already made agreements with Netflix and Starz to get content rights to movies like Captain America: The First Avenger and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Over time, we expect that pretty much every Disney movie and TV show will become exclusive to Disney+. This just makes sense, since Disney+ is intended to be the top destination for streaming Disney content.
However, this also means that, a year or two from now, you’ll probably need a Disney+ subscription to watch content from franchises and studios like Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and others – we don’t expect any new Disney content to come to other streaming services like Netflix in the future.
