AMC has been making waves with their TV shows in recent years. Although The Walking Dead comes to mind, there’s another hit in the making as well: Better Call Saul. This new drama is only a few episodes into season 3 but is already shaping up to be AMC’s next big thing. If you haven’t seen it yet, you may be wondering how to watch Better Call Saul without cable. Interestingly, AMC makes this show easily available in a large number of locations.

We’ve dug around and determined that you can watch Better Call Saul onlinewithout cable in three different ways: live through an alternative TV streaming service, on-demand the next day after episodes were broadcast live, and by purchasing older episodes.

Our article breaks up the options into those three categories. We also note whether the services have a free trial available, and how much it will cost you for those services that charge either a subscription fee, per episode or per season.

Where to Watch Better Call Saul Live Without Cable

Not having a cable subscription is no longer an obstacle to watching TV shows like Better Call Saul. There are now several different services that offer what is sometimes called “a la carte” TV. The idea is that you can purchase a low-cost live TV package with only the channels you want. “Only the channels you want” isn’t exactly the case with any of these services as you’re still locked into purchasing a predetermined bundle, but they are far cheaper than a cable subscription, and allow you to stream live TV to any device.

Philo offers up the cheapest way to get new Better Call Saul episodes. Although Philo does not have old Better Call Saul episodes on-demand, it willl have new episodes for the upcoming season 4 of the show. Because Philo does not offer any sports packages or major movie channels, it can provide entertainment-only TV stations streaming for a very low cost. Philo does offer two packages, one at $16 per month with 37 channels and one at $20 per month with 46 channels. However, AMC is offered through the $16/month option, making Philo a very good deal.

There’s a good chance you’ve already heard of Sling TV. This service is perhaps one of the more well known “a la carte” TV services for cord cutters, with one of the cheapest introductory plans. Sling has two basic plans, a $20/mo (Orange) and a $35/mo (Blue) plan offering slightly different channels. However, their cheapest plan, “Orange,” does offer AMC.

Sling TV works with a variety of devices, including Roku, AirPlayTV, LG Web OS, and XBox One. With the free trial, you could binge watch some of the older episodes, or catch up one a newer episode if you wish.

We’ve also written about how anyone outside of the US might be able to access Sling TV using a VPN. (Click here to read our article on watching Sling TV outside the US.) Sling TV uses a few roadblocks for non-US residents, however, including requiring a US credit card and employing geographic content blocking.

DIRECTV NOW is a somewhat new option that appears to be directly targeting Sling TV. You don’t have as many device options with DIRECTV Now, although it will still work with PCs, Macs, iPhones, Android devices, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku.

The 7-day free trial means you can get your Better Call Saul episodes fairly easily if you binge the older episodes and catch a new episode in the process.

PlayStation Vue

If you have a Playstation, you can use the Vue TV service for as little as $29.99. Sony offers a 5-day free trial for Vue. Thankfully, the lowest-cost package also contains AMC as well as a handful of other popular channels, so you should be able to catch Better Call Saul using Vue.

Not too much is known about YouTube TV quite yet. The service has only been out for a few months and is currently only available in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Unfortunately, we currently don’t have access to YouTube TV determine any more details than what’s publicly available on YouTube’s own website, but if you are in one of the current service regions, this is likely a great option. AMC is available, and with 1 month free, you’ll get several new episodes in before you have to make a commitment.

On-Demand Episodes (Paid and Free)

There are a surprisingly large number of services offering past seasons of Better Call Saul, with many that also offer episodes of the current season immediately after they air on TV. Most are not free, however, so you’ll have to pay for those by season, by episode, or purchase the “season pass” that some of these services offer to customers.

If you’re only looking for the newest episodes and you don’t want to pay a dime, go directly to the source: AMC. AMC offers several ways to catch new episodes. First, you can go to their website and locate free episodes. AMC offers the previous 3 episodes for the current seasons, for free. (At the time of writing, that’s season 3, episodes 5-7.)

You can watch the available free episodes either on the website or using the AMC mobile app.

AMC also offers the latest episodes soon after they air on live TV. If you’re using the website or the app, you can set a reminder to let you know when the episodes go live.

Season pass cost: $16.99 or $24.99

Amazon Prime has a large library of older TV shows. New episodes for Better Call Saul are released onto Amazon for purchase not long after they air live on AMC. The cost per episode is a bit high, and you cannot reduce that price much. Purchasing the show by entire season saves a few bucks over buying single episodes, however. The Standard Definition version is by far the better option if you don’t mind the lower quality.

Netflix has been increasing its deals with network television stations. Now, Netflix gets Better Call Saul episodes the day after they air on live TV. The 30-day free trial is pretty attractive, and the relatively low cost of $7.99 a month for the cheapest subscription means that if you’re purchasing Netflix just for Better Call Saul’s present and past seasons, you’re getting a much better deal over the other paid options.

A key benefit to Netflix is the fact that you can stream from almost any device. Additionally, you can create an account in almost any country, and you may not even need to use a VPN to bypass Netflix content blocking. Better Call Saul episodes are available in 21 different Netflix regions. (Click here for information on which regions)

YouTube

Season pass available: Yes

Season pass cost: $16.99 (SD) or $24.99 (HD)

Until YouTube TV rolls out in more locations, you can find older episodes of Better Call Saul on YouTube. Most YouTube users don’t actually know that YouTube offers movies and TV show purchases. However, you can buy these at a fair rate. The $1.99 price tag for SD is extremely fair, although, by the looks of it, you actually save the most money by purchasing the whole seasons in HD than the in SD. Still, if you’re just out to save money and that’s it, the lower quality SD price of $16.99 per season is pretty attractive.

VUDU

Per episode cost: $1.99 (SD) or $2.99 (HD)

Whole season cost: $16.99 (SD) or $24.99 (HD)

Seasons available: 3

Season pass available: Yes

Season pass cost: $16.99 (SD) or $24.99 (HD)

The pricing scheme here is the same as Amazon Prime and YouTube. There are different rates per episode, and per season, with a season pass available so you can get the newer episodes as they drop. VUDU is a somewhat newer service, so it’s a good idea to explore this one further. The site has a mobile app for Androids and iOS devices, making it a good choice along with the others listed here.

Fandango NOW

Whole season cost: $13.99 (SD) or $24.99 (HD)

Seasons available: 3

Season pass available: Yes

Season pass cost: $13.99 (SD) or $24.99 (HD)

Here’s the weird thing about Fandango NOW. While they offer the same thing as most of the other options on this list, they also sell the SD version of the seasons at a much lower cost. That’s a huge advantage to anyone that wants to buy the full seasons. Since this is Fandango, the same site you might go to for movie tickets, you also earn points when you purchase episodes (US only). Those points can be used for free movie tickets and other goodies. Fandango NOW also works with a larger number of devices than VUDU, making it a far better option than that service, and indeed, with the lower cost, better than all the other per-episode options on this list.

Google Play

Per episode cost: $1.99 (SD)

Whole season cost: $16.99 (SD)

Seasons available: 3

Season pass available: Yes

Season pass cost: $16.99 (SD)

The only real positive to purchasing your episodes on Google Play is that it’s easy to do if you have an Android device. Otherwise, there’s no compelling reason to use this option, especially if you’re looking for HD versions of the show, which Google does not offer.

Apple iTunes

Whole season cost: $16.99 (SD) or $24.99 (HD)

Seasons available: 3

Season pass available: Yes

Season pass cost: $16.99 (SD) or $24.99 (HD)

If you own Apple devices, this is an excellent option. You can access your iTunes online episodes from any Apple device, including Apple TV. If you’re an Apple fan, you may already have a collection of purchased shows from iTunes, so this is not a bad route for you.

Microsoft Store

Per episode cost: $1.99 (SD) or $2.99 (HD)

Whole season cost: $16.99 (SD) or $25.99 (HD)

Season pass cost: N/A

The Microsoft store is the worst option on this list for per-episode purchasing. Not only does it cost more for the whole seasons in HD in comparison to the other options, but Microsoft also only offers the first two seasons. The current season (season 3) is unavailable. Therefore, you cannot purchase a season pass to get new episodes as they drop. That, and the fact that you can’t access the streams on as many devices.

Best Places to Watch Better Call Saul Without Cable

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the number of options, many of which are uniquely similar, here’s our opinion on which options are the best:

  • AMC Website
  • AMC App
  • Netflix
  • Fandango Now

AMC is the best option on this list, hands down, for the simple fact that you can catch the three most recent episodes for free. If you’re already all caught up on the season, you can use this option at no cost to you. There’s no reason to purchase anything unless you’re a hardcore fan and want to rewatch episodes later.

After AMC’s website or app, Netflix is going to be your next best option. This is because the most basic plan for Netflix is cheap, you get all of the past episodes of the show, and the new episodes get posted to Netflix the next day after they air. Alongside this, Netflix offers this show in almost two dozen different countries. You can also use a VPN to bypass the Netflix proxy ban if you’re not in one of those countries, making it all the better. And of course, you get all of the large Netflix library, with thousands of other great TV shows and movies.

Finally, Fandango NOW is a surprising but excellent option. From offering the seasons at a cheaper price for the SD version to the fact that you can earn points toward rewards at your local movie theater (US only), Fandango is a clear winner if you’re going to purchase episodes.
