Hayu has a huge library of American reality TV content. Hayu device support has most of the major streaming platforms covered - but which devices you can use varies among the fourteen countries where Hayu is available.
What devices work with Hayu?
Hayu has developed apps for all of the following devices:
- Living room devices: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Roku
- Smart TVs: Samsung televisions and TVs based on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Roku
- Mobile devices and tablets: Android, iOS
- Game consoles: Xbox One S | X, Xbox Series S | X
- Desktop browsers: Most Mac and PC browsers
There is a catch with the desktop browsers. NBCUniversal used a streaming technology called Microsoft Silverlight when it developed Hayu in 2016. This was four years after Microsoft stopped supporting Silverlight in new versions of Windows. Using Hayu with Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer still requires the Silverlight plug-in. if you don't already have Silverlight, you may need to install this to stream Hayu on your web browser.
How does device availability vary?
The Hayu website as well as apps for Android, Android TV and iOS are available in all fourteen countries where Hayu's available.
For a number of reasons, the other Hayu apps aren't available in every country. For example, watching on Samsung televisions is only possible in the United Kingdom and Australia. Furthermore, some European and Asian countries can't use the Hayu app for Apple TV.
Hayu subscribers in Germany and Austria can only get the service through Amazon. That means they cannot use the Hayu apps but must instead use the Prime Video app.
This situation is evolving rapidly, so your best bet is to check Hayu's device help page for the latest status, and to see which devices are available in your country.
Can I use Hayu on other Devices?
You will only find Hayu apps on the platforms listed above. However, there may be other ways to get Hayu on your preferred device. If you subscribe to Hayu through another service, then you’ll be able to watch Hayu on that streaming service’s apps.
For example, residents of the United Kingdom and Canada can subscribe to Hayu through Amazon Prime Video’s Channels system. That would let you watch Hayu through Amazon’s app on the PlayStation 4.
Other services that offer Hayu subscriptions include Roku (in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Canada), MTV3 Cmore (Finland), Netgem (United Kingdom), Now TV (United Kingdom and Ireland), Telstra TV (Australia), TV2 (Norway) and Virgin Media (United Kingdom).
