Watch the Texas Rangers on Sling TV

Sling TV was a great option for Texas Rangers games in 2018, but at present, it’s not an option you may want to consider. However, that may change. Due to contract disagreements, Sling TV does not carry the all-important Fox Sports Southwest channel. If that changes, however, we’ll let you know.

Sling TV Pricing and Packages

Sling TV offers two channel packages: Sling Blue and Sling Orange, each $25 per month. You can also combine them into one package for $40 per month.

This year, Sling TV does not carry Fox Sports Southwest. So why still include it on the list? Because contract disagreements change all the time. Sling TV carried Fox Sports Southwest up until early 2019. There’s a chance Sling TV and Sinclair can work out their contract disagreements, which will make this a great option to consider again.

To learn more about Sling TV pricing, check here.

Sling TV Channels

Should Sinclair and Dish Network (which owns Sling TV) work out their contract issues, expect Fox Sports Southwest to appear on Sling Blue. That option is also where you’ll find FOX and NBC broadcasts, where available, Fox Sports, NBC Sports, and several key entertainment and news channels.

To learn more about Sling TV channels, check here.

Sling TV Supported Devices

This service offers a wide selection of supported apps. You can stream on your web browser for Windows or Mac computers, and on popular streaming devices like the Roku.

The full list of options includes:

  • TV streaming media players: Apple TV (4th gen and up), Amazon Fire TV (all versions), Chromecast, Roku (LT and up), AirTV,

  • Mobile devices and tablets: Android (4.4 and up),  iOS (11 and up), Amazon Fire (tablets)

Watch the Texas Rangers on MLB.TV

Source: MLB.TV

If you’re outside of the Fox Sports Southwest broadcast region, MLB.TV might be a good alternative for you. This service lets you watch either every MLB team’s regular season games or those for a single team of your choice, without having to live in that region’s broadcast or service area.

MLB.TV Pricing and Packages

There are two subscription options available to baseball fans in the US and Canada:

  • All Teams: $118.99/year, or $24.99/month for every out-of-market game
  • Single Team: $91.99/year (about $8/month) for every out-of-market game for a single team of your choice

The “Single Team” option may be best if you’re only looking for Texas Rangers games. Otherwise, the “All Teams” option is not too expensive if you opt for the yearly subscription.

Note that blackout rules may still apply even through this service. In those cases, you would be able to watch Rangers games on replay instead of live.

MLB.TV Features

MLB.TV has a load of impressive features which makes it a consideration even for those who can get Fox Sports Southwest. The service offers 60 frames-per-second HD video, instant replay, a feature that lets you watch from the pitcher’s perspective, in-game stats on the screen, and more.

You can also stream directly through a large number of devices:

  • Living room devices: MLB.TV app for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Sticks and Roku.
  • Smart TVs: MLB.TV app for certain Samsung televisions, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Roku TV
  • Mobile devices and tablets: At Bat app for Android, iOS, and Amazon Fire tablets
  • Game consoles: MLB.TV app for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
  • Desktop browsers: Most browsers

There is no free trial with MLB.TV, however, so you’ll want to make sure you’re certain you want the service before hitting the sign-up button.

Which Channels Stream Texas Rangers Baseball?

Thankfully, little has changed between 2018 and 2019 for Texas Rangers broadcast rights. Of the 162 games the Texas Rangers will be playing this year in the regular season, 160 will show through Fox Sports Southwest (FSSW). Only two games will be broadcast nationally, and you can view them through Fox Sports 1.

Fox Sports Southwest is a fairly large region that serves Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Eastern New Mexico.

If you’re living in any of those areas, you can get Fox Sports Southwest and watch every Texas Rangers game inexpensively through several cord-cutting services, including AT&T TV Now and fuboTV.
