There are several ways to get Kodi addons. One is to download those plugins directly. Another is to use the developer’s repository. If you want to get the best work with minimal hassle, you’ll need a larger repository, such as the SuperRepo Kodi Repository. SuperRepo amasses over one thousand addons together, saving Kodi users a lot of time in the search for new addons. With TVAddons and the Indigo installer tool now gone, quick installation methods for Kodi have been harder to find. However, SuperRepo is just about the best backup available right now. If you’re new to Kodi, installing the SuperRepo Kodi Repo is a good, first step towards creating an awesome setup for yourself.
Below, we’ve provided a simplified yet detailed guide on how to install SuperRepo on Kodi. We also cover some of the more important topics associated with installing SuperRepo, such as how to use the repository, how to tell if an addon has been updated recently, the best addons housed in SuperRepo, and some great SuperRepo alternatives if you find that the repository just doesn’t have the addons you’re looking for.

We highly recommend using a VPN when using Kodi. Kodi users have been known to receive copyright infringement notices for streaming movies, sports, and TV shows through various addons. If you would like to keep your streaming habits private, our recommendation is IPVanish - a complete privacy solution for Kodi users. It's also worth noting that purchasing a 12 month subscription will give you two months free.

SuperRepo Review: What is SuperRepo?
The SuperRepo Kodi Repository is what is known as a super repository, much like its name suggests. Kodi repositories are folders that contain different Kodi plugins. The vast majority of Kodi’s repositories are small and put together by the developer of a specific addon. When you find a developer’s repository, you’ll typically find whichever addons that developer has crafted in that repository, alongside any dependencies that are also required to help make those addons work properly.
For example, if you were to try most of the popular live streaming Kodi addons, such as the Rising Tides addon, you will need a dependency file known as f4mtester. When you download and install the addon directly through a zip file, you may not get the needed dependencies, while downloading through the developer repository ensures you’ll get those needed files.
The true benefit to SuperRepo for new Kodi users is that it combines all of these smaller and larger developer repositories, plugins, and dependencies into one location. That means you’ll spend much less time scrounging around the web looking for developer repositories or dependencies.
When you use SuperRepo, you’ll have faster access to all of the following:
- Over 425 developer repositories
- Over 180 music addons
- Over 25 picture addons
- Over 430 program addons
- Over 1,750 video addons
SuperRepo is currently the single largest super repository available for Kodi users. It is followed by other super repositories, such as Ares Project, Kodil (Kodisrael), noobsandnerds, Smash, and of course, the all-important Official Kodi Addon Repository. However, none of these other super repositories can match SuperRepo regarding size. Only the Kodil repository comes anywhere close to the number of addons available in SuperRepo, at just over 1,100.
Using SuperRepo is simple. To open up SuperRepo, go to Addons > Package Symbol > Install from repository, and then select SuperRepo All.
After doing so, you can choose the type of plugin you’re looking for. As stated, the largest section here is the Video addons folder, where you’ll find over 1,700 addons available for download.
Users looking through the video addons section will also find a large number of interesting addons that are difficult to find elsewhere, as well as a good number of other popular addons. You can find many of the popular SuperRepo addons described in more detail in the following guides:

One key benefit to using SuperRepo is that you’ll be able to update your addons much easier. If you have an addon that needs to be updated, and an update is available for it, having SuperRepo means your addon update will automatically install if you have automatic updates enabled in your settings. However, if you want to manually update an addon or manually check for an update, you can go to that addon through SuperRepo and click the Update symbol:
SuperRepo will then check for the latest version of that addon. If it is only located in SuperRepo, it will check for any available updates and update automatically. At some point in the future, you may have multiple repositories installed. In that case, you may see multiple possible update or install locations for a specific addon, such as with the popular Specto addon:
As you can see in our example image, several different repositories have Specto, including SuperRepo and Kodisrael. In the case of multiple installation locations, check for the newest version number.
Even with its ease of use and a large number of addons, SuperRepo is far from perfect. The most distinct negative to SuperRepo and all other super repositories for that matter is consistency. Given that SuperRepo does not develop any addons listed in its database, the most recent version of any specific addon may or may not be available here.
It is up to the SuperRepo developers and administrators to ensure all repositories and addons listed are updated to the latest versions available from the addon developers. This does not always happen, leading to situations where SuperRepo’s version of the addon is one or more versions behind.
For example, you’ll note in the below image that SuperRepo has an older version of the popular SALTS (Stream All The Sources) Kodi addon:
Using older addon version is not equivalent to using an older version of a software program. Whether these addons do or do not work is determined by their code, which gets updated in newer versions. Even an addon that’s just one version behind may be so broken that it will not work, and at times, the addon developers purposefully hobble the code in older versions for one reason or another.
If you find that a version of an addon you downloaded through SuperRepo is no longer working, or that it didn’t work after you first installed it, do the following:
- Go to the Super Repo website: https://superrepo.org/
- In the search bar on the right, type in the name of the addon you’re looking for
- Go to the SuperRepo page for that addon
- Copy the last part of the web address (such as plugin.video.salts)
- Paste that copied text into a Google search
- Look for a Github or other link at the top and click on it
- If on Github, check for the most recent update for that addon, and check the version number. If it’s newer than what’s shown on SuperRepo, download the zip file directly from Github or whichever site is currently hosting the addon you’re looking for.
You may not be able to find the addon listed on a site like Github. If that’s the case, your last hope is to try to find out if another addon repository hosts it, although you may have to spend quite a lot of time searching through smaller repositories to do that. Although SuperRepo lists a lot of developer repositories, it does not have all of them. Some repositories may be more difficult to locate if you don’t know the name of the developer, which is not always displayed on the addon itself.
If there’s a particular addon you’re interested in one that needs updating, check to see if we have that addon reviewed here on AddonHQ, or leave us a message at the bottom. We’ll investigate to see whether your non-functioning addon exists elsewhere, or if the current version is the only version available.
Best Addons in SuperRepo Repository
SuperRepo may not always get updated with the newest versions of popular addons, but it is still your best source for a number of them, alongside many other interesting plugins. Interesting addons you will find in SuperRepo include:
Specto is an on-demand TV and movie streaming addon. Specto is built on the same structure as the well-known Exodus addon. It works similarly to other popular addons, such as Elysium and Genesis Reborn. At this time of writing, SuperRepo has the latest version.
Skynet is a lesser-known Kodi addon that offers up IPTV streaming as well as some on-demand movie and TV shows. You’ll find that SkyNet provides some interesting options for Kodi users. The SkyNet addon and a select few other addons include a “box sets” section for movies, where you can find movies that are part of a series and gathered together for easier access.
The FilmOn Kodi addon is one of the best, free and fully legal streaming options available on Kodi. You’ll find a few versions of the FilmOn addon through SuperRepo, all of which are updated to the newest version on SuperRepo. FilmOn is an excellent source for those who want live channels from outside of the US and UK, or unique streaming options such as extreme sports, comedy, or documentaries.
As large as SuperRepo is, it does not have all possible addons. In fact, some of the most popular and up-and-coming addons are simply not available through this repository. If you’re looking for some more difficult to find addons, consider the following options:
Official Kodi Add-on Repository
You really can’t go wrong with the official source for Kodi addons. Every addon listed here is from a first-party source. Unfortunately, many addons here don’t work, but that’s not unusual for SuperRepo either. What you will find here, however, is that many of the first-party addons are of a far higher quality than the vast majority of third-party addons. This is also the only repository that lists the FUNimation and Crunchyroll addons, both of which work well and integrate well with Kodi.
The Official Kodi Addon Repository comes already installed on Kodi, so you can find it with your other Kodi repositories.
The newer Smash Repo is maintained actively by its developer. If you’re looking for the newest version of Exodus, you won’t find it in SuperRepo, but you will find it here. Smash does not have a large number of addons. It is more focused on maintaining some of the more popular addons that have have been abandoned by their previous developers.
Kodil (Kodisrael) Repository
The Kodil repo is a good alternative source beyond SuperRepo. While it does have the same issue with consistency, you’ll find that some of the popular addons that aren’t updated in SuperRepo are more regularly updated in Kodil. That includes the SALTS addon, which is available through both Kodil and Smash. Considering SALTS was abandoned by its previous developer, finding the updated version has been difficult for Kodi users who enjoyed the addon.
Jesus Box Repository
The Jesus Box Repo from Jesus Box Media is small, but it is your only source for the Genesis Reborn addon. That, alone, makes it worth an install if you’re looking for that addon.
Safety with SuperRepo
It’s important to remember that when you install Kodi addons, you are giving these addons access to your computer. A super repository, such as SuperRepo, can come at a security risk if you have private data on your computer. While hacking events are rare through Kodi addons, they have occurred in the past. Understand the risks when installing third-party addons and repositories onto Kodi.
