Two original VR programs are coming to Crackle in February: Snatch and In The Cloud.
Combining hardware, immersive experiences and original content seems to be the way companies hope to compete in the streaming business. For Sony that means enhancing its original content with virtual reality.
“The virtual reality experience reinforces our commitment to delivering interactive opportunities to our audience,” said Sony Crackle general manager Eric Berger in a recent . press release
Snatch is a TV adaptation of the Brad Pitt movie of the same name. It stars Rupert Grint as a scam artist trying to survive in the world of organized crime.
Crackle will also release a VR game for the PlayStation 4 this week: Snatch VR Heist Experience.
Snatch VR Heist Experience is a six-minute long “immersive branching narrative experience” that involves a diamond heist.
Many of the actors in the Snatch series appear in the game.
Sony Crackle also announced it would release a VR experience for its new show In The Cloud next month.
Reports also emerged from VR Focus and other sites that Sony has expanded distribution of its next-generation PlayStation VR system. Sony had featured its new head mounted VR display in its holiday promotions.
