If you’re thinking of cutting the cord, you may be unwilling to give up your local channels, like FOX, NBC, CBS and others. There’s good news, however. You don’t need cable TV to get your locals! What PlayStation Vue Local Channels Are Available?
PlayStation Vue offers between 45 – 100+ channels in its packages, depending on which subscription level you purchase. There are four channel package options:
- Access: 45+ channels, $44.99/month.
- Core: 60+ channels, $49.99/month
- Elite: 90+ channels, $59.99/month
- Ultra: 90+ channels and premium channels including HBO and SHOWTIME, $79.99/month
For those who want local channels, the Access subscription package is all you’ll need. With Access, you may be able to receive:
- ABC
- CBS
- NBC
- FOX
- Telemundo
The other popular local broadcasters you’ll be missing include The CW, PBS, MyNetworkTV, and MeTV.
Your access to these channels will depend on whether Sony has been able to secure broadcast rights in your area, however. In cases where Sony does not have broadcast rights for your area, they’ll instead offer an “On Demand” version of that channel, such as “FOX On Demand”, which will let you still watch content from those networks as part of your subscription – just not live.

To check which local channels you can get through PlayStation Vue for your specific zip code, simply go to PlayStation Vue’s main subscription page. Make sure you allow the website to determine your location. Or, go to the top right of the page and enter any zip code. The available channels listed will update based on your zip code.

Live TV Recording for Local Channels
PlayStation Vue offers a 28-day cloud DVR that lets you record as much as you want during that time period. However, ABC, FOX, and NBC all have DVR restrictions. These restrictions vary but primarily involve an inability to fast forward through commercials. Some restrictions may also apply when recording certain sporting events.
How Do I Get Local Channels Not Available on PlayStation Vue?
If you want local channels that are currently not available through PlayStation Vue, there are two options. One is to use a digital over-the-air (OTA) antenna. Local broadcast networks like ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS can all be viewed live and for free with an OTA antenna, and you can record these networks with an OTA DVR like Tablo.
