What Devices Work with Philo?

You can use the Philo with all of the following devices:

  • TV streaming media players: Apple TV (4th gen and up), Amazon Fire TV (all models), Chromecast and Roku (all current models)
  • Smart TVs: Android TV (5.0 and up)
  • Mobile devices and tablets: Android (7.0 and up, Chrome browser), iOS (10.3 and up)
  • Desktop browsers: Most Mac and PC browsers

Can I Philo on Other Devices?

Philo is limited to the devices listed above and on its device support page. The biggest limitation will be for Android users, as there is currently no dedicated app available in the Google Play Store. You will need to stream through the built-in Chrome browser on your Android device, which can be fairly battery-intensive.

You may also be able to run Philo on some older devices or outdated operating systems beyond the recommended versions, but you may experience some functionality limitations in the process.

Why Use Philo?

Philo is one of the best options for subscribers who want a streaming service focused completely on entertainment channels (and some news). Philo’s low cost is because it carries no sports channels.

Instead, you’ll get several dozen popular and unique entertainment TV channels, some of which are difficult to find on other streaming services. Many Philo users like to combine this service with another cord-cutting option, like YouTube TV, in fact. You can test Philo out with a free 7-day trial.

Other Great Streaming Services

Philo works on a large number of devices, but it may lack support for your favorite device. You’re not out of options, though. You can supplement Philo with Disney+ for on-demand content (and a larger number of supported devices). If you want an expanded channel package, Hulu+ Live TV also offers a great experience and works on more devices, including the Nintendo Switch. You’ll also find ESPN+ is a good pairing with Philo if you want an option that offers sports at a low cost.
