Tablo owners will get a DVR firmware update next week. The update will add the following DVR controls to Tablo’s interface:
- Adjust Start/Stop Time
- Keep X Recordings
- Recording Channel Selector
The “Adjust Start/Stop Time” feature lets you factor in the way cable channels seldom start programs on the hour. You can use the new feature to avoid missing the “six months later” part of House Hunters, for example.
The “Keep X Recordings” feature lets you specify how many of a TV series’ most recent episodes you want to keep.
The “Recording Channel Selector” helps prevent duplicate recordings by letting you pick which channel to record when a syndicated show appears on more than one channel.
In addition to adding new controls, the firmware update will also boost the performance of all Tablo two-tuner and four-tuner DVRs when starting live TV streams.
Most Tablo apps will be able to access the new feature upgrades:
- Roku
- Amazon Fire TV
- Apple TV
- iOS & Android mobile devices
- PC/MAC
- Android TV (for Nvidia Shield TV, Xiaomi Mi Box, Google Nexus Player)
Support for apps on Xbox One and LG smart TVs will roll out later this year.
