The NBA regular season is well underway. If you’re struggling to find matches, however, or just want to catch some games that you missed, Kodi is one of the best places to do that. Below you’ll find a healthy list of both live streaming Kodi addons and Kodi addons for pre-recorded matches. Kodi provides one of the best avenues for how to watch NBA on Kodi for the 2016-2017 season.
Update 10.28.16 9:55AM EST: Added a note on Pro Sport to the Live Streams section to reflect the addon’s live features.

Before we Proceed
We highly recommend using a VPN when using Kodi. Kodi users have been known to receive copyright infringement notices for streaming movies, sports, and TV shows through various addons. If you would like to keep your streaming habits private, our recommendation is IPVanish - a complete privacy solution for Kodi users. It's also worth noting that purchasing a 12 month subscription will give you two months free.
Beginner’s Guide to Kodi
New to Kodi? You may want to check out our Beginner’s Guide to Kodi. This will help you learn more about the program, what it can do for you, and how to start downloading addons today. There’s a wealth of addons available through Kodi. You may be out to watch NBA games, but that’s just scratching the surface of what this excellent program and its vibrant community can offer. Our beginner’s guide will walk you through the installation process for PC, Mac, Android, iOS, Linux and Raspberry Pi.
NBA Broadcast Rights and Channels to Look Out For
Every sport has different broadcasting rights for different games. The NBA is no different. There is a mixture of different networks, both cable and over-the-air, that have secured rights to different games.
For the 2016-2017 year, both ESPN has the largest deal to broadcast NBA games. These rights were extended for the next 9 years recently, meaning you can expect ESPN network to be your best source for quite some time. Full U.S. broadcasting sources include:
- ABC (schedule), which will show 30 regular season games starting in December
- TNT (schedule), which will air 52 regular season games starting November 1
- NBA TV (schedule), which will show 96 regular season games starting November 5
- ESPN (schedule)
- ESPN 2 (schedule)
Outside of the U.S., broadcasting rights for Kodi addon live streams we’ve found include:
- BT Sport
We poured over addons looking for these specific networks. For additional networks, try the NBA’s own broadcaster schedule.
Live Streaming Addons
Click here to access our SportsDevil installation guide.
We like to turn to SportsDevil whenever we look at new avenues for watching sports on Kodi. Opinions on this addon are mixed (I personally find it less preferable than many other options), however, many Kodi users will swear by it. For the purposes of catching NBA 2016-2017 regular season games, you might find some benefit here. SportsDevil has a working link to NBA TV and several BT Sport. Beyond that, you won’t find any working streams. You can find those streams under the “Sports TV” section of the addon.
There are a few more working streams on SportsDevil as well. You can find a working ESPN 2 stream under “ShadowNet.ro”, as well as working streams of ABC, NBA TV, and TNT. This covers most of the live broadcasts of the NBA 2016-2017 regular season. You may find success finding some other working streams within the “Live TV” and “Sports TV” sections of the addon. Don’t get your hopes up with finding a live ESPN stream here, however.
Pro Sport is one of the best addons around for live streaming NBA games. This addon provides high-quality live games the day of the games themselves. When you head to the “NBA GAMES” section, you’ll find a listing of any games happening that day as well as when the games are playing. If the time is in red, this means the game has yet to start. Times in green mean the game is happening at that moment.
Click here to access our Castaway installation guide.
Castaway may have some troubles with its primary functions right now, but it’s still a great place to go for a lot of different things. Live TV is actually one of them. You can find a few great NBA streams on here. Under the addon’s “Live TV” section, you’ll find a rather long list of scraped sites. The best of these is shadownet.ro and arconaitv.me. Shadownet.ro has the same options as what you’ll find on SportsDevil, as it’s also located under SportsDevil. That means working streams of NBA TV, ABC, and TNT. The real gem here is acronaitv.me. This scraped site has a working ESPN stream that comes in in really great quality. You can also find a working TNT stream. Both of these come in live.
Click here to access our Oblivion Streams installation guide.
Oblivion Streams has been making its rounds, riding a new wave of popularity. For that reason, we can recommend this addon because of how many working streams it has, but with a bit of a warning: with popularity comes a slowdown. Addons that get more popular end up experiencing increased slowdowns with their streams due to the added bandwidth usage. Oblivion Streams is hot right now and works well, but you may feel the pinch of excess buffering if you’re watching streams at the wrong time.
That said, Oblivion Streams has a lot of great working channels. There’s a load of BT Sport channels in HD and 1080p, ESPN in HD (that works!) and NBA TV. There’s also a working TNT stream under the “US Live TV” section. You’ll need the F4M Tester to utilize the streams on this addon, but this will likely download automatically. If not, you can find the F4M tester in the Fusion downloader, or download it from Shani’s Phase Repo.
You can install Sanctuary using the following zip link: https://originent.net16.net/originrepo/. To add this zip link to Kodi, go to Settings > File manager > Add source. Type in the address where it says None. You can find the zip file if you go to Settings > Add-ons > Install from zip. This will install the Origin Repo, which you can find under Settings > Add-ons > Install from repository.
Sanctuary extremely similar to the Oblivion addon. This is the same developer behind SportsDevil, so you can rest assured that its addon works, at least in some aspects. The most obvious use here is that Sanctuary provides you with a direct link to Oblivion Streams’ content. In that aspect alone, you may find more value in just downloading Sanctuary and not both Oblivion and Sanctuary. Alongside Oblivion Stream content, you’ll find some live TV options under the “Raider” section in the addon.
NBA Replay Addons
Pro Sport is a pretty excellent addon for sports replays as well. The addon has an archive section listing NBA, NFL and NHL games. Seeing as the regular NBA season is only just beginning, the addon is currently empty. However, you can check back here once the regular season goes live. You should find NBA games replays here in the future.
Castaway not only provides good live streams; it also has a few good sections for catching NBA replays. You’ll want to head over to the “Sport on Demand” section in the addon, then over to the “Basketball” section. There are several scraped sites listed under here. Some work better than others. Note that if you plan on using the “Basketball torrents” section, you should use a VPN before doing so.
