Update 6/24/2017: The Sanctuary Kodi Addon has been rebranded and is now called Quantum. The Quantum Kodi Addon is located in the same repository, so the installation method has been updated slightly to reflect the new change.

Given the recent shakeup in the Kodi community, we’ve been updating our addons to reflect installation changes for addons. This includes the popular Quantum Kodi addon. Any Kodi users looking for television and movie titles will feel right at home with the Quantum (formerly Sanctuary) Kodi addon. The Quantum Kodi addon covers the gamut from IPTV to on-demand movies and even a handy direct link to some great anime. Below you’ll find our quick-and-not-so-dirty guide to install this addon. As a bonus, we provide a nice overview of its features, including what it does well and any areas we found that could use some improvement.

Before we Proceed

We highly recommend using a VPN when using Kodi. Kodi users have been known to receive copyright infringement notices for streaming movies, sports, and TV shows through various addons. If you would like to keep your streaming habits private, our recommendation is IPVanish - a complete privacy solution for Kodi users. It's also worth noting that purchasing a 12 month subscription will give you two months free.

Quantum Kodi Addon – Benefits and limitations

Quantum

Quantum is one of the most eclectic addons out there. While many addons try to do one thing well, Quantum throws almost everything you want from an addon and attempts to do it all well. There are mixed results on that end, of course, but for the most part, Quantum provides a very high-quality viewing experience for IPTV (through Oblivion) on-demand movies and tv shows.

When you open up the addon, you’ll probably be a bit confused from the menu. Your options consist of:

  • Big Bag “O” Tricks
  • 24/7
  • Documentaries
  • Live TV
  • Movies
  • Music
  • Sports
  • TV Shows
  • Add-ons

Sound like a lot? It is. Quantum pulls from a long list of other services, operating more like a middle man than anything else. As such, most of its functionality is tied into how well the service it’s pulling from is working.

From our testing, many of the channels are working pretty well. We’ll spare you the details of what every single channel here offers, but suffice to say, outside of the ones that are more obvious in the title, you’ll find pretty much the same things: TV shows and movies on-demand with a smattering of live television options.

You may be particularly interested in the add-ons section. The Quantum Kodi addon has a large number of Kodi add-ons which we’ve found no longer work alone, but which have been adopted into the Quantum addon and now run almost exclusively through this addon. This includes the following options:

  • Quantum
  • Pandora’s Box
  • Pyramid
  • FreeView
  • Brettus Anime
  • Oblivion IPTV
  • Supremacy
  • Renegades Darts
  • Just For Him
  • BAMF IPTV
  • Quicksilver Music
  • Silent Hunter
  • Dojo Streams
  • Freedom IPTV
  • Cerberus
  • Ultra IPTV
  • Fido
  • Midnight Society
  • DELIVERANCE

Freedom is IPTV has a very large selection of international channels, whereas most IPTV add-ons typically emphasize US and UK networks over all others.

The same can be said of Oblivion IPTV as far as functionality. It works, and well, although its focus leans more towards US and UK networks.

As of our most recent update (6/22/2017), we put some of the other options to the test as well, to see whether all of these additional addons really work. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Quantum’s menu loads fine, with a large number of streams available.
  • Pandora’s box is unfortunately (and perhaps ironically) empty.
  • Pyramid returns an error message when trying to load.
  • FreeView (which requires a UK IP address) loads up well with a lot of options for live TV.
  • Brettus Anime loads its menus well, but you may struggle to find working streams.
  • Oblivion IPTV works extremely well and provides its current “online” status.
  • Supremacy works very well with high-quality live TV streams.
  • Renegades Darts pulls primarily from YouTube, although it sent failure messages when testing.
  • Just For Him is an adult-oriented section. We did not test this one.
  • BAMF IPTV sends back an error message and fails to load.
  • QuickSilver Music loads its menus but has issues with playback.
  • Silver Hunter has a lot of working TV and movie streams.
  • Dojo Streams has primary folders that are all empty.
  • Cerberus is empty.
  • Ultra IPTV is empty.
  • Fido has working live TV, TV and movie streams, although with a lot of buffering.
  • Midnight Society there are some working sections in here, but a lot of failure messages as well.
  • DELIVERANCE has a good number of working live TV, video and TV show streams.

Recent Reorganization for Quantum

Quantum received a recent revamp after getting acquired by a new development team. The previous developer decided to drop the addon after the current TVAddons and ZemTV fallout.

A key change to the program was in the menu layout and the name. Quantum was formerly known as Sanctuary when under the original developer. However, due to many users pestering the former developer with questions about functionality, he requested that the new developers change the addon’s name.

Its recent revamp also moved all the other add-ons that Sanctuary pulls content from into the Add-ons section. There, you’ll find the Freedom IPTV and Oblivion IPTV sections, among many other options.

This revamp also streamlined the process to discover certain types of content. For example, the new Live TV section makes it easier to locate live TV channels than in the previous version of the addon.

One section you may be confused about before installing Quantum is the Big Bag “O” Tricks section. That section is just a bit of a mashup of different features. It includes some live TV for sports, a section for new movies, and a somewhat small “TV Guide” that also includes a channel search option.

Overall, we found the Quantum Kodi addon to be a solid plugin, especially with the new reorganization through the new developer. We’ll keep you updated on any additional changes that we find with this addon.

  • dj newmoney

    Yes this one is great

  • Tina

Does it still have karaoke like oblivion did?

  • Donne

    Does not work at all

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Donne,

We just tested this yesterday for functionality. Please let me know what part didn’t work for you.

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Donne

The developer changed the addon. Follow the installation process above, but install Quantum instead. You will also need to uninstall Sanctuary

  • Francis Costello

After installing Sanctuary 0.7.1, you open up the addon and it says to “remove this addon and install Quantum as Sanctuary is no longer in use??

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Francis,

That’s a new one! You should be installing Sanctuary 1.0.0, as per the example from above.

      • Francis Costello

it is installing sanctuary 1.0.0. As the instructions say, then you click on install from respository, video addons, and choose sanctuary 0.7.1. The instructions show 0.6.8.5 but im assuming that is older, as that isn’t an option anymore

  • Filia

Hello, I am kinda needing some help. Whenever I try to install Quantum, the installation always fails to install a dependency. Any thing I could do to help fix this?

    • Sam Cook

Hi Filia, of that I’m not too sure. It should be installing without any problem as long as you’re installing with the repository. Do you have Sanctuary installed by any chance?

      • Filia

No i do not. Unless you’re talking about the repo I do.

        • Sam Cook

Hmmm, that’s an issue I haven’t seen before. What system are you using to run Kodi, and what version of Kodi?

          • Filia

I am running Kodi ( Kyrpton 17.3 ) on Windows.

        • Sam Cook

          You might also try this:

He’s using Kodi version 16, but you may be able to navigate your way to the same areas if you’re using 17.3

          • Filia

Alright the guide helped me a lot, now the addon is finally installed. Thank you for showing me the video. Will be sure to bookmark it for future failed dependencies.

          • Sam Cook

Glad that video helped! That’s what we’re here for: if we don’t know the answer, we’ll outsource it to someone who does 🙂

  • Ed Ochotorena

Where can I find the password to open the “Just for him” addon?

    • Sam Cook

That I can’t tell you. If you have parental settings on enabled on your Kodi app, you would have created a password at that time.

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Ed,

That’s not something we can help you with here. It doesn’t come with a password pre-installed, that’s a setting you create individually on Kodi

  • Tysl332

    Doesn’t install…

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Tys,

I just checked to make sure this is still working. I received a successful install. I’ll need to know more information to help you out.

  • Leeor Matalon

Hi when I try to select ok after typing in the file source it says “couldn’t retrieve directory information “… what should I do? I typed it in correctly and triple checked the source.

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Leeor,

I just checked the link and it’s working. Try going to a web browser and typing in the link:

      http://sanctuaryrepo.esy.es/sanc/

Download the zip file from there, and install it through Install from zip.

  • Kofi Manu Baron

Installing from zip file goes well. But when I try to install from repositery it doesnt show a installation message. And from there nothing happens. Quantum still up?

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Kofi,

I just checked this. I’m not getting any errors when trying to install at all. Quantum also appears to be still up

      • Kofi Manu Baron

Okay thanks. I will get it done one way or the other. 🙂

  • Kofi Manu Baron

    Hey Sam,
everything is installed and working fine.
    Thank you for the guidelines!

    • Sam Cook

      Great 🙂

  • Josh Groves

all it says when installing is that “the dependency on script.module.liveresolver version 0.1.28 could not be satisfied”

    • Sam Cook

      Hi Josh,

That’s not one I’ve seen before. It’s doing this after attempting to install Quantum addon?

  • Joseph Bell

    Quantum addon,
Fact: Valerian 2017 catch in loop. Correct or remove please.
