What is A24?
A24 is a film distribution and production company. Based in New York City and founded in 2012 by a trio of film and production experts, the company experienced rapid growth and success in its early years.

A24 films have appeared on a range of streaming services over the years, including Apple TV+, but in August of 2022, right in line with the company’s 10-year anniversary, A24 announced that a large number of its films would be making their way to the HBO Max streaming service.
In fact, no less than 28 A24 movies arrived on HBO Max on August 1 of 2022, including some of the company’s most famous hits like Under the Skin with Scarlett Johansson and A Most Violent Year, with Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain.
How to watch A24 films on HBO Max
If you want to enjoy great A24 films on HBO Max, you’ll need to sign up for your own HBO Max account. There are two different plans you can choose from, an ad-supported plan and an ad-free plan:
- Ad Plan – The ad plan for HBO Max costs $9.99 a month if you pay monthly or $99.99 a year if you choose to pay annually. As the name suggests, this plan features ads that you’ll have to watch in-between episodes of shows or during a movie, but it’s cheaper overall, ideal for budget-conscious viewers.
- Ad-Free Plan – The ad-free plan for HBO Max, meanwhile, is currently priced at $14.99 per month when paying monthly or $149.99 a year if you prefer to pay for an annual subscription. The ad-free plan has no ads, but that’s not the only benefit; it also lets you watch in 4K and download content for offline viewing.
No matter which plan you choose, you’ll have access to the full library of HBO Max content, including all of the A24 movies that are on the service.
