Today Turner International and Warner Bros. announced that FilmStruck will soon be expanding into Great Britain.
The announcement signals the first step in FilmStruck’s international expansion.
FilmStruck specializes in domestic rarities, critically acclaimed international titles and Criterion Collection films.
For Film Lovers, By Film Lovers
“FilmStruck helps us realise a shared vision for what we see as a clear gap in the market for film lovers around the world,” said Warner executive Aksel van der Wal.
Netflix abandoned film buffs when it decided to shift towards an originals-centric content strategy. FilmStruck entered the market to fill the demand for classic and art-house films.
Branding itself as “for film lovers, by film lovers,” FilmStruck advertises itself as the place to go for critically acclaimed movies from the silent film era all the way to modern indie productions. FilmStruck also produces extras and mini-documentaries to round out the experience.
