Sports-centric streaming service fuboTV is now the Apple TV’s top-grossing sports app. Much of its success comes from combining hard-to-find sports broadcasts with mainstream TV channels.
In a media release yesterday, fuboTV outlined its success since launching the Apple TV app last October:
- Ranked #1 Top Paid sports app.
- Ranked #7 among all apps.
- Rankings are according to App Annie.
- Usage doubled between October and January.
- Average streaming hours grew 53% between November and December.
New Apple TV Features
The announcement was timed with an update fuboTV pushed out to Apple TV owners. Among the new features:
- Enhanced EPG with a seven-day window.
- Network Pages that display live and on-demand content from various networks.
- Improved video controls.
The new programming guide improvements make fuboTV’s cloud DVR easier to use. Whether you stick to the standard 30-hour service or upgrade to the 500-hour option, the cloud DVR lets you record your favorite teams and keep the recordings as long as you want.
The Sports Fan’s Streaming Service
FuboTV has a unique channel lineup that sets it apart from mainstream services like Sling TV and DirecTV Now. It doesn’t just reproduce the cable experience at a cheaper price.
Sports take center stage in the fuboTV system. The $39.99 monthly subscription includes up to thirty-one sports channels. Add the $8.99-per-month Sports Plus option and you get another fifteen sports channels. The Spanish-language options include soccer-focused channels from Latin America. There is even a $5.99 monthly subscription for Chelsea F.C. matches.
fuboTV also carries standard channels like NBC, Lifetime and Food Network. fuboTV’s unique mix of channels makes it a good choice for families with varied tastes.
